Sebby is going to have to deal with the fact that his kid is likely going to be hurt by someone he could give a rat's ass about, and that, likely, she's testing the values that he's tried to raise her with. Doesn't mean that Sebby is going to not let her date these guys, it jsut means that he's not going to like it.
Bingo. Spot on.

One of the joys* of being a parent is watching your child wrestle with the demons of becoming an adult. Making choices, dealing with the consequences, ignoring the advice of their wise parents, etc. You don't want them to get hurt, but sometimes you see it coming and are helpless to prevent it.

Relationships are one of those areas. And boys and girls are different. (Note to Sebby -- I wouldn't want to know about my son's sex life, either.) Girls are the ones who get pregnant, and are at a higher risk than boys of being sexually assaulted. Some sexually transmitted diseases are much more dangerous for girls than they are for boys. Girls that start having sex before they finish developing can be physically injured by the act.

And don't minimize the social differences, either. Despite our best efforts, there is still a double standard about sexual activity. And although Sebby may tell young Sabrina that "sex is natural/sex is fun," Sabrina's friends at JP Donleavy High School may not be from such enlightened families. It's easy for a parent to say "who cares what those neanderthals say"; it's not so easy for the kid who is surrounded by those neanderthals 6 hours a day, and hearing "slut!" whispered about her by people who used to be her friends.

*In both an ironic (sic) and Not Ironic way.
