Interesting. I have been on this planet some 30 odd years and worked for about 13-14 years and have never encountered a woman who has become enraged upon seeing my body, abundantly clothed or otherwise. Perhaps my body is just not as fiiiiine as yours. My suggestion is just to ignore these heinous bitches.

I am what I describe as a runner who also eats. I am also, several years older than you, and therein seems to lie the problem. When I was younger, this never was an issue. When I was younger, everyone seemed to look the same - we all looked pretty good. Now that I am older, there seems to be much more of a disparity between me and others of my age.

So if you younger women want any advice, my advice to you is to run AND eat. And weight train. That seems to be the key. If you exercise and don't eat properly, that is no good. You will look gaunt, and while gaunt might be a good look when you are 22 (I am not saying it is, but you have to admit that there are those who do say that it is), it is not a good look at all more than a decade later.

The bottom line is that if you want to age well, you are going to have to work at. Take the time to eat right and exercise.Back to top

Trust me, GWNC doesn't need any advice from you on how to be attractive.

But you could probably take some hints from her on how to be beautiful and yet not a raving bitch at the same time.Back to top

I also have to disagree with the skekster -- as I think I noted in the original thread, I have interviewed chicks who wore suits that said both "hire me!" and "throw me across your desk and make the earth move!"

Granted, I think that it's a hard (ha-ha) balance to strike, and one not seen too often, but it is doable. There's also the risk that the suit may say those things to the wrong people, but I guess that most women have some experience at correcting the misunderstandings of deluded men -- "my suit may have been saying that, but it certainly wasn't talking to you."

If by "wrong people" you mean men, surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly) I think that men are the least of your worries when you wear clothes that send that message. I happen to have a nice body, and I do my best to keep it well covered and hidden from view when at work. I do that because it attracts negative attention from women, not from men. The men I can deal with, just like you say. But the women are much harder to deal with.

There is only so much you can do to hide your body. So, even if you don't wear "fuck me" clothes like you are describing, if you have a nice enough body, you still attract negative attention - from women, though, not from men.

Surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly), it does not attract negative attention from the life-long unattractive or overweight women. Those women who become the most enraged by seeing a woman with a nice body are those who were cute and thin at some point in their life and now are not.

I am not out to find a boyfriend or husband at work, so it is fine with me to keep my body to myself. But even when you try to keep it to yourself, there are people that will try to figure out what you look like under your clothes anyway. And all too often it is women who are apparently pissed off because they never learned to exercise.

It is extraordinarily unfortunate that women like that exist, but they do. However, like I said before, I find it is never a woman who has been what men consider to be unattractive or over weight her whole life who is like that. It is always the women who at some point in their life were cute and attracted male attention and now do not. Why they don't spend more time getting off their fat asses and jogging than they do worrying what someone else looks like is beyond me.

Heidi from Survivor???? Hey girl, why did you bail on your sisters and vote with the cavemen? You know thats only goonna fuck you int he end, you dumbass.Back to top

Ditto. I don't get what you don't get. As a feminist, I want us to all get along. But as a realist, I have to admit that we don't, and a very large part of the problem is that not all of us are feminist.

The most perplexing part of it all to me is that the men that they want, don't want a feminist like me.

I learned a long time ago that having a mind and an opinion negates having a hot body for alot of guys. Wish it didn't, but it does. On second thought, no I don't. It serves as a good screening tool.Back to top

Wouldn't know what GWNC looks like. But I never said I was beautiful. I said I work hard at staying fit and healthy and that I cover up how I look at work, but that it doesn't always work. I also added to Not Bob's idea that wearing suggestive clothing at work would get you into trouble with men. It will also get you into trouble with women. I don't wear suggestive clothes at work, but even if you don't wear suggestive clothes, you still can run into problems.Back to top

And nyah, nyah, nyah Thurgreed. Omar Epps IS gonna be in a big movie that white people want to see. The trailer for "Against the Ropes" with Meg Ryan looks good. He looked good too. He looks a bit sleepy eyed, wesley snipes, but that worked for Mitchum.

Ummmm, this is one of the rare occassions where I enjoy being wrong.

But, I saw the trailer for this flick. I'm not sure how many white people will buy Meg Ryan as a boxing promoter. And who's he playing? The black fighter trying to claw his way out of the ghetto. It's not exactly a "Cider House Rules," role now is it? [Actually, I wouldn't know. I haven't seen Cider House Rules. Just an educated guess.]

But, as always, I hope it opens things up for him and others.

You bitch! I hate you and your robust puppies and lithe firm body! You are probably a feminist too! I hate feminists with hot bodies! I am fat and ugly and want a man to take care of me -- luckily I am also stupid and have no ideas of my own, so it should be easy to find a shlub to marry me. Of course, he will be picturing your gorgeous body in his head as he is screwing my grotesque Kathy Bates body, but at least I will never have to worry about him leaving me b/c no man wants to be with an attractive woman who has her own mind! Thank God!Back to top

Actually, what I think you said was that you havea nice body. Darlin, when you get to be a little FB older, I think you will learn that boasting about one's ASSets will only amke you the subject of much ridickule and possibly the target of a My Name Is Just For Fun And I Love My Body sock. Which is not the same thing as a Body stocking that you might put on your goregous bod. But , on the upside, Lester will probably be buying you lots of drinks.Back to top

I was perplexed because the tone of your post struck me as a little, well, misogynistic. You explained other womens' behavior in terms of their looks and their reactions to yours. That seems demeaning to me. I'm not saying that to be a feminist you have to love all other women, or that you haven't encountered petty, jealous women and men in your life and in the workplace. Haven't we all?

I am a feminist, too, but perhaps the difference in our views on this point is just a matter of personality rather than politics. See, when my mother told me that other women were so bitchy to me because they were jealous, I chalked it up to mother love rather than adopting it as a philosophy.Back to top

Didn't say that either. There are men who want to be with an attractive woman who has a bright mind. They just aren't in the majority and unfortunately, many of them aren't attractive themselves. See, all men want to be with an attractive woman, regardless of whether they themselves are attractive. I need to be with a man who wants to be with a woman who has a bright mind AND who also has a bright mind and is attractive himself. THAT kind of man, you have to admit, is not a dime a dozen.Back to top

Actually, I meet that kind of man all the time. And I already know a good deal of men who fall into that category.

THAT kind of man, however, has no interest in the kind of woman you are.
