No trip down the red carpet prior to the Oscars this year, ABC News reported. Too celebratory during wartime.

What the hell is the point of the Oscars if not to see a hideously dressed Joan Rivers and her horse-faced daughter sniping over everyone else's clothes? Why else watch if not to see a male celebrity gamely try not to look like a pimp in a purple velvet tux? Where else do you get your annual implants update?

I'm sure JustforFun won't mind though. She'll in the powder room making out with her own reflection in the mirror anyway.Back to top

Oh stop with the venom. I never said I was beautiful. I said I work hard to have the best body I can, that I keep it covered up at work because I don't look for male attention at work, and that my boyfriend gets really turned on when he sees me naked and that makes all the working out worth it.

Leave my venom out of this. Venom is what I do best. It's my raison d'etre. My venom makes my husband really hot, and when he gets all turned on by displays of my venom we have really great sex.

Yawn. Do you realize how one-dimensional you make yourself sound? I grow weary of you. Even with your incredibly hot bod.Back to top

TM

I don't think any of us deleted it. If one of us did, I would expect that said person would have noted their name when they did so and explained why they did so.

My guess, she was being silly and did it herself. If this is incorrect RP, please do let me know.

The short answer, however TM, is there is no such rule. If she had put a real name certainly I would have deleted it and/or expected the other moderators to delete it. But again, an explanation of why and who did it should have accompanied it.

As usual, Leagle is right -- I was being silly. Maybe I like getting you riled up.

Seriously, I originally wrote a poster's name, not a real name (hell, I don't know anybody here), but then I thought better of it. I didn't feel right about trying to out a sock behind the sock's back. Better to do it directly, as you did. I did not think I would cause alarm, since a moderator's deleting something without making note of it would be totally contrary to the philosophy of this place and thus highly unlikely.

Between impending war and tractor man chaos, I'm a little punchy, too.

I don't know, we could have a belly problem. My last gf was in the military (of course we didn't talk about that shhhh.) Anyway, as a result of the crunches and everything she had a very nice belly. So now, I am particular about bellies. Do you have a nice one? If it is nice, I'll rub it.Back to top

If it wasn't so damn long I would say American Pie, because I know the lyrics and there is no vocal range needed at all. Instead I will go with Time in a Bottle because of the vocal range thing.

Interesting episode of American Idol last night.

Hearing Kelly Clarkson reminded me that even Carmen could have won last year.

The best: Ruben and Trenyce.

The worst: Corey, Carmen, and Julia.

The inexplicable: Kim Locke -- she has a nice voice, but no rhythm, so she cannot sing.

Going home: Charles. Too bad because I believe he could do well if he could hit his stride.Back to top

I missed Corey (he is the Latrell Spreewell guy right?)Ruben (but caught his praises) and Kelly but saw everyone else. Without a doubt, Julia is adios. As Gladys said, she just looks uncomfortable up there. Carmen was totally mediocre and I have to think something is suspicious when Simon keeps praising her. Clay still leaves me scratching my head. How is he and not Ruben who doesnt even need to sing to win the one to beat?Trenyce should also be inthe top two. She sang WHitney Houston well. That is tough.Back to top

Karaoke songs: I've been working on "I Just Wanna Luv U (Give it to me)" at the Korea town karaoke clubs. It's not easy. My old standby is "Born to be Wild." - requiring little vocal range. I'd love to get a group of friends together and do a kick-ass Sabotage, or perhaps Air Force Ones.

Onto American Idol. No diary because I'm spending most of my waking time trying to catch up on work after being in Philly for the weekend (nobody offered me $50 for my Tag, alas). The talent last night was fantastic, especially in the first hour. I thought the best of the night were Ruben, Clay, Kimberly C., and Joshua, but I missed Trenyce and heard she was awesome too.

I badly missed with my pick of Charles last week, so I was rooting for him to fall on his ass. I don't think he did. He stopped the ridiculous bopping around. Clearly he has some fans out there, and I don't think he's bottom 3 this week either.

So who's in trouble? Bottom 3 will be:
Julia D. She looked like she was miserable and terrified, and when given a chance by Seacrest to deny it, she couldn't. Way to go. Flashdance is a song that's either gonna be great, or awful. This wasn't great. I think she has probably had a horrible week after being in the bottom 2 last week, knowing that she's likely to be next. Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Carmen. Sometimes she hits the right notes, but her voice isn't mature. And against this crop, that's killer. Her looks are really all she's got, and the judges were ripping her on that!!! Ouch.

Corey: He wasn't bad, but he went first and was followed by the 5 best performances in the show. By comparison he suffers.Back to top

I'm on vacation and using a dialup connection, but I couldn't resist posting something about last night's American Idol.

Ruben's singing is flawless. Every note is perfectly on pitch, velvety smooth, and he does a great job of emoting through the song. Even if he doesn't win (and I disagree with Simon on this; Ruben's the one to beat), I think he has a stellar recording career ahead of him.

Corey sucks. Compare his high singing (which is shrieky) and Rickey's (which is sweet and smooth).

Trenyce had cojones to attempt Whitney, and did all right. She seemed very nervous, though, and her boobs looked really funny.

Clay did a'ight. We were cracking up hard, though, at his shaky breaky last note, and at his fluttering eyelids when complimented by Simon. Too goofy for words.

Kimberly Caldwell is a one-dimensional performer. She knows what type of song suits her, and she's the winner in terms of song selection and stage presence. But she's just not that great a singer. Simon hit the nail on the head when he said he could hear the like at any theme park.

Josh Gracin gave his best performance yet. Country is where he needs to be (I was starting to get that feeling last week), and it was a great song choice.

Charles--blah. Not awful, but nothing special either. Has persistent pitch problems (but then, everyone had at least one bad note last night, except for Ruben--made me wonder if they were having trouble hearing themselves).

Rickey is improving each week. His look has improved 1000% since his initial audition. Huge range. His nervousness also seems to be getting better.

Carmen sings like a 17-year old. She does have an interesting vocal sound, but the warble has got to go. The makeup maybe was a bit overdone last night (I guess making up for the neutral shirt), but she does look good in red lipstick. I don't think she'll be eliminated this week, though--never underestimate the power of the Mormon bloc vote. If it really kicks into gear she'll be hanging around like Nikki McKibbin.

Kimberly Locke looked nice with straightened hair (offset the roundness of her face), but the dress didn't do much for her. She was one I was wondering if she was having trouble hearing, because her pitch was consistently just a tad sharp. Good interpretation of the song, though.

Julia DeMato is incredibly bad. She was doing the awful off-beat step-touch, step-touch thing again--more like touch-step, touch-step. She also takes the booby prize for most sour notes. Unless she's got her own voting bloc, I think she'll be gone tonight.

Of last year's finalists, only Kelly, Justin and Tamyra could have made it to the finals this year. Interesting--last year Justin was the only really good guy; this year the good guys outnumber the good gals. My top six are: Ruben, Clay, Rickey, Josh, Trenyce and Kimberly Locke.

I didn't finish my thought from my previous post. Obviously Julia is gone tonight. I can't believe they're going to make it a whole HOUR. Have they no shame? I also thought it was funny how Simon ripped into the clowns from the last year's top 10. He's got no love for Ejay!

Onto the following rather oddly written article, about how Japanese female teens are turning into nymphos, possibly because of "Fast Food" (though that theme disappears very quickly). More evidence, however, that I was born 10 years too early or 10 years too late . . .

Some observations on American Idol:

Trenyce is a great singer but she need to stop touching her face and doing so many hand gestures -- she looks like she's trying to sing the song while signing it so that the deaf audience members know what is going on.

Ok, my gaydar goes off a little with Clay but I still love him.

Corey is so so bad, how come the judges aren't ripping him to shreds?

Carmen sucks.

Julia sucks more.

Okay on to my new favorite reality show: Married by America.

This show stunk the first few episodes but now that we get to watch these "couples" live together, the initial 3 hour investment of watching has paid off. Cortes obviously begged them to vote her off, but at least she let Matt sleep in her bed -- Stephen could not appear to be more repulsed by his fiance (which I don't get b/c she is pretty cute). Jennifer and Xavier are the most mismatched pair ever (Thank you America!) and when she pushed him off of her in bed and said "NO cuddling tonight. SERIOUSLY" I realized how great this show really is. But my all-time favorite moment? Billie Jean and Tony in the car:

Billie Jean: So what kind of movies do you like?

Tony: hmm.....porn.

Billie Jean: ME TOO!Back to top
