Then they defrauded the federal government. The loan papers that I signed required me to use the money only for tuition, books, and living expenses while attending school. The agreements specifically say that you cannot use the money for anything else.
If you drop out of school and therefore don't have a tuition obligation and your living expenses are not incurred while in school, you are required to return the money that was disbursed as well as any interest that was subsidized.
