Careful. You're starting to sound a bit too much like paigow there.

Well, consistent with paigow's opinion of Less, we all already know that slave's been trying to have sex with me ever since he outed himself as a metrasexual.

Does anyone other than me find this quite funny coming from "Alex deLarge"?

Must we beat this analogy over the head? Maybe, for some, the right euphemism is "submitting the post"?

I think that's the new DC Comics version of Puff, the Magic Dragon. You know, the one on 'roids.

I don't follow them either any more, but it looks like they're copying Cable from Marvel. He had some kind of technovirus that *was* one of his hands, and a future version of him, I think, had a hook for a hand.

If you caught him in "The Recruit" did you think it was worth it? A seemingly homosexual writer in the New Yorker gushed about him in the movie, but his pen seemed to be channeling the little head.

I saw the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday and can confirm that Michael Moore gave essentially the same speech that he gave at the Oscars. He got a much warmer response from the IFP than from the Academy.

I have no problem with Michael Moore giving such a speech. I'd rather hear some controversy than hear an actor thanking a phalanx of lawyers...and I am a lawyer. On one of the E! post-award shows, the some co-host asked an audience member what her favorite moment was of the Oscars. When she replied, "Michael Moore's speech," the female co-host looked crestfallen and said, "We don't have to pick a bad moment." Why is controversy bad?

There is no truth to the rumor that I deleted the Board because my Oscar picks were so off base. For the record, the Board was deleted hours before The Pianist nabbed surprise awards.

Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore have looked better. CZJ looked fantastic. Jennifer Connelly looked better than she did last year, so I'm hopeful that in a year she will look beautiful again. A little extra weight really suits her.

Adrien Brody gave the best speech of the night. I'm so glad that he was able to talk the orchestra out of playing for a while. Would it kill the telecast to have everyone get an extra minute? I watch the Oscars to see awards and speeches. Didn't Rob Lowe kill the whole song-and-dance thing years ago? I fret for the future when a dozen bad clones of Chicago sweep across the country like a pink, frilly wildfire.

Lastly, The Sports Guy has lost a lot since he started writing for Jimmy Kimmel Live. Because JKL can't get any guests, he ought to focus on keeping his core audience amused. Bill Simmons will not be getting a gold watch from ABC in twenty years.

Why is controversy bad? At a time like this?!?!? My fucking god/allah/jesus/joseph smith, I take it, assfuck, that you don't have any relatives fighting in Iraq. Maybe if you did, cocksucker, you would think differently. For one fucking moment in your life, try, just try, to think about life outside of your little fucking cocoon. And try not to be such a trivial assfucking cocksucker.

I grew up in a military family. I have tremendous respect for those who serve. The fact that no one in my immediate family is currently in theatre has no effect on my opinion of the war, President Bush, or anything else for that matter. You are not a member of the military either; you are a shrill, hateful bitch. The military exists to protect freedom. That includes the freedom for people in San Francisco to protest against the war, the freedom for people in North Carolina to hold pro-war rallies, the freedom for Michael Moore to criticize George W. Bush, and the freedom for you to make a ham-fisted, unpersuasive, homophobic, ephithet-filled attack on me.

I don't think that protesters help their cause by snarling traffic in San Francisco. They delay parents who are just trying to get from work to their children, they force millions of city dollars to be spent on police overtime instead of on basic services, and they do stupid things like reaching for a cop's gun in the middle of a melee.

JFF, you don't know me, my family, or my relationship to the military. I will tell you that I consider the right to protest to be something more than "a trivial thing," even, and in fact especially, when I disagree with them. Based on my own personal experience, I know that the men and women who serve this country are too strong, proud, committed, and motivated to fall to pieces when Michael Moore criticizes Bush. What's more, I consider "the controversy" to be not only Michael Moore's remarks, but also the vociferous reaction to those remarks. For their part, I haven't heard any celebrity antiwar activists criticize the troops. There is no need to demonize those with whom you disagree, whether they are antiwar protestors or fellow posters on this Board.

I hope you aren't suggesting that I approve of Polanski's behavior. I just said the film won some awards. I haven't even seen The Pianist yet, so I can't pass judgment on the film.

Samantha Geiner, the woman who Polanski attacked, wrote in a LA Times opinion piece that people should separate his Polanski's work from his actions.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/Movi...lanski.geimer/

Perhaps you should accede to her wishes.
