Spring Cleaning Time. What in God's name do I do with the old 1980's Gucci bag from a gazillion years ago? You know the one -- the big hard beige bag with the burgundy/huntergreen/burgundy stip down the sides. Is there a graveyard for these things?

No error message. The page would simply never load. On the toolbar, it would say "contacting host digikitten.com" ... endlessly. Since digikitten stores avatars, my guess is that the pictures on those pages had something to do with it. I only have Netscape at work, the version has not been upgraded in a very long time, and I cannot download anything. It is for lack of a better word just poopy.
Oh, by the way, the first time I had trouble loading the page, at one point it said "contacting host bbbboy.net." WTF?

How do you notice with that nose in the way? But his speech was great. Totally the tactful way to make the point without being an ass.
In the ass category, there is Moore, making a similar point. But at the same time, you knew he was going to do it - at least he is consistant. I at least respect him for speaking his mind rather than deferring to groupthink. And while there was a substantial minority actively, and loudly, booing, I wouldn't say he was booed off the stage. Although he was musiced off.
In other news, Connolly looked good with a little more weight, while Kidman looked bad having gone too skinny.

At the risk of an inappropriate topic (and feel free to delete if so), lets say one is feeling the urge to do one's part to help rebuild, and relieve sufering in, Iraq or even Afghanistan. Anyone have recommendations of good charities? There seems to be reason to question the Red Cross and I don't know enough about the politics of Oxfam. There is a definite preference for non-religious organizations.

So, Julia went home.
Finally.
She looked like she hated being there.
Kim C's reaction was a little strange. Anyone have any idea whether she was so upset that Julia went home . . . or that she forgot to wear waterproof eyemakeup.

Nice to see you made it over here, Adder. I think this topic is perfectly acceptable.
The only charity I have heard doing anything is the Red Cross. I know Middle Eastern countries have the Red Crescent organization as well.

I too was glad to see Julia go. The timing of Kim Cs tears confused me too... it didn't seem to be related to the song, like Kim L's at the beginning. I think it's b/c her thing is to be the one eho fake cares... like last week how she was the one up dancing with Charles... she likes to pretend to be the one who cares to get attention for herself.

Try Doctors without Borders as one possibility. They have one of the best reputations among relief organizations.

That was just plain bizarre. I can't help but think something else had to be going on, for her to break down like that. It can't be entirely explained by relief at not being eliminated or sadness to see Julia go (though Julia certainly seemed to be popular among her fellow finalists--Kim C's were not the only tears, and Clay kept kissing her temple). I also am not sure it will win her much sympathy from the American public--she looked awful and it was weird.
And what was up with Rickey being in the bottom three instead of Corey!!?!?
I wouldn't put it past Fox to jigger with the results a little to maintain gender and (insofar as possible) ethnic balance as long as they can. I predict/hope Corey will go next.

Adios Julia. So sorry to see your back flab, no talent, cruise ship singing act go back to the world of shampooing in BF, CT. If this experience has taught you anything it shoudl be that you should not be deluded into thinking that this is the beginning of your "career". It is the end. America does not enjoy watching or listening to you, and it is only bc the Kelly Osbource wannabe and the Albino Will Smith with the stupid hats were around that you even made it this far.
Kim C is the worst camera hog I have ever seen. I recall tha twhen she did not win top two on that show that gave us Julia and ALbino Will Smith, she still grabbed the microphone as the show ended and sang as if she won. Like she knew she was gonna be secure in a wildcard spot. She is a flaming asshole. I think she was crying bc her co-flaming asshole, the other microphone hogging, trashy, faux sincere wench, Julia aws a rival for whoring herself for the undeserved camera time. They probably had some kind of asshole rivalry that was apparently resolved this week by the mutual fawning contest over the not so hot performances from Tueday. Perhaps they formed some sort of coalition to make eachother look good since they both knew that next to Trenyce and Kim L, they just cannot sing. After this alliance was formed, Julia was unceremoniously dumped, so little Kimmy drugstore mascara started crying. That and she was relieved to have not lost, but was sad to realize that what she thought all along was true, that she sucked enough to be bottom two and America thought the other piece of trash, Carmen, was cuter.
This should get more interesting as there is not a clear Sucks the Most anymore with Julia gone. Carmen and Caldwell can duke it out for the token trashy looking blonde with middling talent spot (though I dont think Caldwell is that bad, but apparently everyone else does). Latrell will still be the worst black guy and should go after the worst of the two trashy blondes, but apparently I am not alone in thining that Rickey with an e sounds castrated, lite fmy and weird. Clay should handily be bottom three but apparently seems to be liked enough to come in third or fourth. SO the battle for suckioest over the next two weeks should be interesting.
Should go:
Carmen or Kim
Spree (unless Rickey keeps soundeing weird)
Carmen or Kim
Rickey
Kim L- lovely voice an beautiful face, but fat and not in a cuddly Rubenesque way, and is no trenyce
Josh (but should be Clay)
Clay who is lucky that not all girls have gaydar and that there are plenty of ballad loving gay men everywhere
Trenyce
Ruben stands alone.

Sears isn't bad. There's also a series of books called "The Girlfriend's Guide to _______" (e.g., pregnancy, infants, toddlers). It's a bit different because of its irreverence and humor that's sorely lacking from so many of these "experts" whose self-importance is so inflated that they think they shit marble.
Then again, I'm an advocate of buying a variety of such books, reading them, absorbing what makes sense, then burning all of the goddamned things and stumbling through with what you believe to be right.
Good luck, gwinky.

Yes. Send it to me.
Try selling it on eBay. You may get interest from a vintage clothing store which will give you a decent price for it.

Why are all the women such losers? (aside from the obvious). Not a single professional in the whole lot. Mostly students, unemployed people, and people with made-up jobs like "mansion caretaker" and "child development specialist" (um, just put "nanny", ok?). Even Joe Millionaire had a freaking doctor for gods sake! And not a single lawyer or even a stewardess (excuse me, flight attendant). What is up with that? And they couldn't even get any pageant WINNERS this time (last one had a Miss Idaho and a Miss Texas) -- they had to settle for a "finalist" in the Miss Tennessee pageant or some such crap. The women are attractive for the most part, but aren't there attractive women out there who actually managed to graduate from college?
Does this mean that they are intentionally choosing stupider women, or that smart, professional women are actually smart enough not to audition?

Your response is humorous, considering your avatar. Which bugs the shit out of me, btw, not that you probably care. That cartoon is doing serious damage to her back by not wearing more support and she is going to look like she's carting around a couple of sandbags on her chest by the time she's 30.

I didn't watch the Bachelor, but I did look for a minute through the Bachelorettes' profiles on abc.com. It's a good thing none of the men on this show actually go through with the whole marriage thing so there isn't too much of a real threat, but it makes me squemish to see 21 year old women talk about needing to settle down. How about live a little?

I drifted in and out of it. I agree. We were watching, and decided that none of them would win (even though that's not possible).
The worst was the woman who said she wanted to find the "father of her children." If they played that tape for Firestone, she'd be cut before stepping out of the limo. Many of the others weren't far off from that.
Did anyone find a disturbing resemblance between "Jen" (I think) and bondage-sarah from Joe Millionaire?
And what's with Firestone? He looked like a drunk frat boy at a strip club -- sort of sitting there taking it all in, through slitty eyes, with a goofy grin on his face. I just had the feeling that that edited out the moments when he started pulling out dollar bills and stuffing them in the girls' pants.

Wednesday nights are rough... After Survivor, I was flipping in between AI and Bachelor. I couldn't really watch much of it because the screening procees... how we picked our bachelor, etc... didn't really interest me. When they started showing the girls, I almost puked. The "I want to get married and I want that ring and he's going to know I'm the one, but if he doesn't notice how great I am, Daddy can you walk me down the aisle in a white dress so I can feel pretty I mean it so much I am crying" attitude made me sick. So I switched over to sorority life.
SL: Maggie is the biggest bitch ever. When she kept repeating "Are you threatening me?" I can't have been the only one who was hearing it a la Beavis. I can't see how Brooke will finish pledging. I suppose the thing I thought was most weird was how Nicole was so worried about her relationship with that guy, to the point of being obsessed... I jept thinking... Dude, you've been on ONE DATE!!!! I suppose all the vandalism was in good fun, but in college, my atgtitude would have been mor like Brooke... I'm tired and this is stupid and we already have too much sorority BS, so I'll buy the effin brick at Home Depot.
During SL, I also had to flip back to South Park, Timmy as a Crip, busting some punk-ass Bloods cracked me up... Bachelor was out of the lineup...
FL: The part where the other pledges were imitating the calls btwn Alex and Lindsay was hilarious. As was the paper towel toga. It appeared that one of the more psycho co-dependent relationships I have witnessed on reality TV may have ended. It was weird though. I swear I never saw BS like that in college. If Alex endsd up less whipped because of this, then the whole pledging thing may have been good for him

He is, without a doubt, a scuzzoid who is only in this to hook up with as many women as possible (duh). The montage at the end of him macking on every woman on the show throughout the upcoming episodes made that clear. He was probably like, "that chump Alex only kissed 7 women, and Aaron only macked on 11 women, I can do better than those losers --Sigma Nu RULZZZZZ!!!!!"
I thought the scariest woman was the one who was sitting in her father's lap and crying (real tears, people) that she just wanted her father to walk her down the aisle and see her married off, and even if she didn't get married, she still wanted her father to walk her down the aisle of the church. Oh, and the girl who said she wanted someone EXACTLY like her father (unless your father is sleazy womanizer with a tongue that exercises more than Jane Fonda, then you are shit out of luck, darlin').

What I don't get is why women think that a decent-looking heir to an empire who can't get a date on his own without a network setting it up is a good catch. Something major has to wrong with him. And why again is an appealing personality trait to a woman for a guy to let his money buy him a harem of bimbos to sort through?
Oh and congrats TL and best of luck GWINKY. And I hope you politely lay down the law with your partners that, as you are the ones who has to go through pregnancy and labor to get the little squawkers out, they are the ones who get to walk the kid around when it's crying at 3 in the morning.

In an earlier post, I mentioned Carol Smillie, the host of the BBC show Changing Rooms. Someone asked me to post a picture of her. Now that I've figured out how to do that, here she is...
Her BBC bio contains an article that mentions she used to be a topless model. In the US, she'd probably making every effort to hide that fact.
Seems like every woman on this board is getting pregnant. Congrats to all.

MR: "I'll take door number 2."
Given your nickname, it figures.
w/r/t AI males, Ruuuuuuuuben is by far the most engaging -- and coolest -- male singer on the show. Second choice is Josh. I could care whether or not Clay sets off gaydar; I simply find his voice "ehh." Kind of a Disney voice-over voice, not terribly inspiring. Corey has boy-band written all over him, and is more marketable than Rickey, whom I consider too "soft" (and the side profile of him with furrowed brow and jutting chin standing near the school buildings as the sun sets makes him look like a highr-level functioning Down's Syndrome adult).
w/r/t AI females, Trenyce has a great voice/presence, but she picked a horrid song and she mumbled through it. She could make it to the final round of three (with either Rueben/Josh or Rueben/Kim L.). Kim L. has a good sound and looks aren't that important (e.g., Tracey Chapman has a less-than-perfect physique, sounds sounds great, and has good album sales).
Kim C. has very limited range but is great to look at. I wouldn't rush out to buy her album (Pictures, maybe. Album, nope).
Carmen is just too annoying. I remarked to Kafka-ette that Carmen's facial structure and lip/teeth shape reminds me of Chelsea Clinton, a not-impressive visage. Moreover, her voice has not matured. She could use some more practice.
