Round the world poll

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...wan_mcgregor_3

So Ewan MacGregor and Charley Boorman are leaving this week for an around the world trip from London to NYC (heading east) on their motorcycles. Only non-motorcycle travel planned thus far is the Channel ferry and another ferry across the Bering Strait. I thought it sounded very cool until I read the "camera crew" and "tv series" part of the article. I liked the "We're not very good at filling in forms and stuff like that. ...The idea of queuing to get visas and all that was just ..." confession, cuz it sounded sort of and they shall know our velocity-ish, but I think the TV aspect sort of takes away from the whole concept.

Anyhow, if I had the money, and more importantly, the time, I would love to get a jeep and follow the old Camino Real down to Chile and back again. Alternatively, I'd love to hike the Appalachain trail.

So, given, say 4 or 5 months and adequate funding, where would you concentrate your travels, and how?
