(Not that I would have wanted you to. I generally dislike ellipses in posts and emails, and especially by men. (Sexism alert): it suggests to me that the guy is trailing off or can't decide what to say, which is not very masculine. And given that one has complete control over what one types in a post or an email, one has no need to use ellipses as mere filler. Most of the time it's serves as a visual "um" or "like," rather than as an extended pause to express that words either aren't necessary or can't quite capture what one is trying to express.)
