Pink spinel is quite a nice stone if you want a pink stone and cannot afford or don't want to spend the money on a pink diamond. Pink sapphires are nice, too.

In person, they are quite lovely. I am not able to tell a high quality pink spinel from a pink diamond. I am sure jewelers can, but I cannot.
It is much easier to tell a pink sapphire from a pink diamond, IMO.
