Three songs, two were contestants' choices and the other, "I Believe," was written especially for the finale and I think will be the first single the winner releases. Fantasia won the coin toss and opted to go second.

Diana started with "I Believe" and did a nice job on it. The non-belted parts didn't have any particular intensity but it was pretty good. Fantasia started with a song I hadn't heard during the competition and it wasn't a good choice. She didn't sing the song so much as riff on top of the melody and add her "yeah yeahs." Simon said the arrangement was a mess. After the first songs, Fantasia looked like she was in trouble.

Diana's second song was pretty good again (the Donna Summer one) but I thought she sang it better during Disco Week. Fantasia countered with "Summertime." I also thought she sang that a little better during Movie Song Week but it was still excellent. Slight edge to Fantasia IMO after two songs each.

Diana finished with "Don't Cry Out Loud" and it was her worst performance since Elton John week. The lows were too low for her and she lost the pitch in the middle for a short time. Then when she got it back, it was more screaming or shouting than singing. The judges gave her mega compliments on the first two songs but were hard pressed to come up with something good to say about this one.

Fantasia finished with "I Believe" and if I thought Diana had sung it pretty well, Fantasia knocked it out of the park. She really should win.

The whole night I thought about what an amazing finale it would have been with any two of Fantasia, LaToya and Jennifer. Last week would have been so great with all three of them and no Jasmine.
