AI Finale (possible spoiler)

But I think she was already losing. And Simon needs to know when to shut up. Whenever he gushes, that spurs that pity vote for the other person. That said, I've been calling for Fantasia and only got through 4 times on any of the 3 numbers. I hope that's a good sign because if Diana wins, I'm going to start believing the conspiracy theories.

Go Fantasia!
Am I the only one who thinks that this is going to be close? I mean, they both had a not-so-good performance, but the unfortunate thing for Diana is she had hers last. I can't get past the fact that both of these singers annoy me somewhat, Fantasia with her yeah, yeah, yeah's and Diana's tendency toward shrillness. Does anyone besides Simon believe that Fantasia is the best contestant ever? I predict there's going to be a bit of a backlash too.

This also gives me an opportunity to segue into what may be the most entertaining show ever. Unless I missed the discussion on the board, allow me to recommend the WB's Superstar USA, which I accidentally stumbled upon last week. This show is a straight rip-off of American Idol, except the judges are looking for the worst singer possible. The twist on it is that the people are led to believe by the judges that they are talented. In the span of two weeks, they've shown auditions, the final twelve, and they've pared the field down to eight of the most untalented singers I've ever seen. What's more, the "finalists" are going to be given the royal treatment -- shopping for mansions, expensive clothing and cars, along with image makeovers in preparation for the star lifestyle they are led to believe they are going to lead. At the end of the show, they are going to tell the contestants that the whole thing is an elaborate ruse.

The judges for the show are Tone Loc, Vitamin C and some record producer guy named Briggs. The host is a Seacrest clone. Some of the best moments I have seen so far.

An androgynous asian guy who sings like a woman.

A guy looked like a cross between Steven Wright and a serial killer. The guy was bald on top, with a huge mullet in the back, all dressed in black and butchered "Born to be Wild" during his audition. From Briggs: "I like the look -- very different. Bald and a mullet. You should call it a skullet."

To another rather hot looking late 30'sish mom. Briggs: "Are you familiar with the term MILF? Well you are a MILF. A Mother I'd like to. . . fly to Hollywood."

A really bad white rapper -- a suburban wannabe gangsta. From Tone Loc: "Maybe you should rap about surfing, you know, keep it real."

An asian woman who while singing does this strange high kicks while dancing, which sparked a debate among the judges on whether this was feeding into negative stereotypes about asians.

A tone deaf guy whose main dance move is the "head waggle".

Excellent, excellent stuff. As fast as the show is progressing though, I only imagine it will be on another week or two, so watch it while you can.
