Yes, I heard an Administration official proudly proclaim how, had that granted Mr. Padilla his Constitutional right to consult with an attorney, that attorney probably would have told him to not say anything, and then they wouldn't have (eventually, after days if not months of questioning) gotten him to confess to being part of an alleged plot to attack the US. They were very clever.
You are (allegedly) a lawyer. This should dismay you. Not that the Constitution was violated, but that the fucker was PROUD of it.
