So
I'm getting dragged up to NYC this weekend. Is there anything in particular I should try to see during the daylight hours?

Oh, God, yes. We're talking about a totally outrageous paradigm.

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

A lawyer quit his job to become a full-time Lego artist:
- CNN: How difficult was it to make the decision to switch from full-time attorney to fulltime LEGO artist?
SAWAYA: It wasn't very tough. I worked with great people at the law firm, but my passion was always for my art. As more and more people were commissioning pieces and collecting my artwork, it became clear to me that I should focus on my art full time.
New York corporate attorneys are known for working the long hours. I find myself working long hours now as well, but I'm doing something I love. ... The worst day in the art studio is still better than the best day in the law firm.

How long until the stupid "What You Can Do With Your Law Degree" books in the law school placement offices include "Professional Lego Artist"?
eta: Check out the gallery. He does some really cool stuff. With Legos.

I hear that there are people in the area who will meet you over drinks and provide a full and detailed analysis of your appearance.

Do what I did last summer when I was sitting in as one of 64 lawyers in a deposition of a co-defendant -- visit MoMA in their recently renovated digs. See if someone can hook you up with tickets to see the Amazin's out at Shea. Grab a six pack of Rolling Rock and people watch at Central Park. Fall in love with a delightfully amusing Persian beauty of a court reporter who will break your heart into bitter little pieces every day when she leaves the 43rd floor conference room. Recover your willingness to live by drinking overpriced but delicious martinis at the King Cole Bar. Lather, rinse, repeat.

David Wright wouldn't do that . . .

Hell, Kent Hrbeck pulled Ron Gant's leg completely off the base on a pickoff in the World Series and he was considered a hero. I've seen Dave Winfield pull the glove off a catcher so that the ball came out when the catcher tried to apply the tag to Winfield's arm pit.
Players constantly pretend they made contact with a ball on a swinging strike in the dirt. Outfielders try to sell to umps short hops as catches. As I said before, infielders are constantly trying to fake a player into leaving a base or remaining on base.
I would link to numerous articles about all of these horrible atrocities, but they are being ignored because they are no big deal. And if you fall for them, it is widely considered to be your mistake.
So, save it. Please.

If you want to pick up some extra scratch and put your talents to use, I know a massage place near T-Square that is always looking for contract players to provide happy endings for their drop-in clients.

people around here, NO! I can't imagine they'd do something so catty. Of course it will start out with "she has a horrible limp" because right now I'm working with a broken foot. And then they'll comment on my Farmer's Tan. At that point I'm hoping they'll be too exhausted to notice the other deformaties or that I'm flat chested (but you knew that already from Paigs)
