Patrick Bateman isn't a perfect analogy, since I only have a hunch that sebby is a serial killer, no actual evidence. However, it is appropriate in other ways. Each plays a role that gives the outward appearance of a successful, yet normal, human being. The job, the clothes, and the other trappings of upper middle classdom convincingly hide the true inner self. While sitting across the table from sebby, you are hypnotized by the way his constantly moving lips mouth seemingly disjointed words that somehow dismantle your carefully crafted and bluebooked arguments, and you wonder what his strategy could possibly be. In reality, he's only thinking about how you'd taste sliced up and served in a bowl of rice with avocada and ginger.
And I think he probably is vain, except about his hideously ugly penis.
