Annoying listserv guy
So I'm on a niche practice specific listserv sponsored by my a-little-less-niche,-but-pretty-niche practice association. Anyone, including non-attorneys, can join the listserv.
The questions can range from basic "what the fuck are you asking this for it was settled years ago?" type questions to "there is no answer to that question because the law is so unclear on this point." Because of the nature of my niche practice area, the questions tend to be the latter variety than the former.
Anyhow, there's a guy who participates who, as far as I can tell, is NOT an attorney. His signature block has a URL for some sort of niche-related consulting company. He'll say stuff like "the law says xyz" without offering any citations or authority, which is fine because we all get a little lazy when answering a question off the clock. But, he bugs the shit out of me because he signs off all of his replies with "I hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome." It implies that his answer is athorative and correct. Sometimes he is, and sometimes the answer is much more nuanced. Unless I'm simply giving an answer to something like "where can I find the xyz statute for Texas" and I'm pointing out the legislature's website, I'd never sign off (especially to a group of lawyers) like that.
