You're right -- I didn't say explicity that he was funny, but given that he was such a big part of those movies, they wouldn't have been funny if he weren't. Ergo, he was funny.
I also second the vote for The Three Amigos -- funny movie, funny Chevy.
A friend of mine plays tennis with Chevy's father, Ned (there's a 50-year age difference between them, easily -- don't ask). Ned apparently has a charming idiosyncracy during their matches, namely, a constant reminder for my friend to "put some mustard" on his serve. I think Chevy is from some hoity-toity family, but I wouldn't put money on it.
