As for spinach, I don't know why the macrobiotic people won't eat it but otherwise I imagine its safe.
I fear that I will never be able to eat black beans again without the word bloated going through my head.

A chick at the local Whole Foods just spied me with a Diet Coke and said "hey, we don't sell that... thats technically unhealthy."
I smiled and said, "That organic thing is bullshit. You know that. I just eat here because the food is fresh and better quality."
I'm not sure, but I think she may have been a bit offended. Serves the organic crowd right... that whole mode of thinking is such heaping, stinking horseshit. Its like these waterheads who believe you can cure cancer by aligning your shakras properly, or that you can tell a person's digestive health by looking at a spot below his tongue outlined in s 5th century Chinese herbal medicine text.
Why do people have to have a messagee to glom onto, or some "mode" of thinking to believe in. Why do they have to develop a set of beliefs to guide them? What the fuck ever happened to just being your goddamned self and letting common sense dictate for you? I hate people who are enthralled with any movement or groupthink. I want to start a group to combat them. We could go to protests and hold signs which say "Try getting laid instead of [piercing your eyelid] or [joining an evangelical church]!"
