What is the name of that bread bakery in Berkeley/Oakland that sells Cinnamon Currant bread and a fabulous Rustic Baguette? the Cinnamon Currant bread makes the best french toast ever.

There are a number of good places to get bread over there, but I think you are thinking of Acme Bread.

They're also in the SF Ferry Building now.

La Farine is in Oakland and Berkeley, too, and their bread is too good to be true. Worth the drive.

I heard a rumor that sewer rat tastes like pumpkin pie. That said, the issue is moot because I would never eat a vile animal such as a sewer rat.*

Don't ever go to a chicken/cow farm/factory. Comparatively, rats have OCD.

How ironic that I, a super genius, forgot the name of Acme Bread Company.

When we lived in the Berkeley, my sister and I toyed with opening a bakery that delivered small loaves every morning, because we could never go through a full loaf before it dried out. We ended up with a lot of croutons and a very happy bird population.

Unfortunately for the bread loving population in Berkeley, the tech bubble crashed shortly after we thought up our gold mine, and we had no interest in following the footsteps of homeruns.com and the like.

Fortunately for us, though, my sister started sleeping with a guy who delivered for Acme Bakery, so he made sure our house was on his route.

Urban myth. Just as silly as the old belief that Guinness had more calories than regaulr beer (Turns out it has less). That bitter taste of SB coffee has nothing to do with caffiene content. I've heard from the guy at Starbucks that their coffee actually has slightly LESS caffiene than others because the over-roasting of the beans which gives it bitter taste lowers the caffeine level in much the same way the overbrewing of Guinness wipes out excess sugar found in lighter beers. But as long SB coffee tastes stiff, people will think its got more caffiene.

Other sister. I thought you guys had a data base on them?

And look! My Pay Pal account was suspended! All I have to do to restore it is click a link and give ALL of my credit card/banking information. *phew*

No, what I read was based on studies, not on smell or taste. The idea that over-roasting would reduce the amount of caffeine sounds like barista bullshit to me. I think caffeine content is determined by the type of bean, not the roasting method, and may explain why Starbucks' caffeine content varies from day to day in these studies -- b/c the coffee of the day varies.

I don't understand people like you with this elusive "self control." This reminds me of my college roommates who "couldn't finish a can of soda" or "couldn't finish their fruit before it went bad." WHAT!?!?!???? A few nights ago I ate a pound and a half of grapes because they tasted good and they were there. I can ALWAYS finish what is there.......

It looks like the myth is fact:

http://slate.msn.com/id/2107807

Excerpt:

Starbucks must be banking on the theory that the people who buy its coffee don't just need coffee, they need Starbucks coffee, which packs a higher caffeine punch than many competitors. The Wall Street Journal earlier this year sent samples of coffee from Starbucks, 7-Eleven, and Dunkin' Donuts to Central Analytical Laboratories. The lab reported that a 16-ounce Starbucks house blend coffee contained 223 milligrams of caffeine, compared with 174 and 141 milligrams in comparable amounts of Dunkin' Donuts and 7-Eleven coffee, respectively. According to the Journal, the average Starbucks coffee drink contains 320 milligrams of caffeine. (This chart from the Center for Science in the Public Interest shows different measurement levels, including the scary finding that a 16-ounce Starbucks grande has nearly three times as much caffeine as a No-Doz.)

Do you mean a local Philly guido-fuck or some inbred from the home office. I don't know who I trust least.

I'd put the fuckers in an arena with swords and see who climbs out alive.

People who make people work in uniforms should be boiled in dye from the 3rd world company that makes the aprons.

This was so good I can overlook the incorrect use of the superlative.
