Ah -- you have identified my fudge factor. I feel pretty comfortable saying a Dem net gain of 2-3 Senate seats.

P.S. In response to some later posts I noticed but have yet to fully read. I agree that the Board has begun to stink. I participate less than in the past due to time constraints. (kids
 and work)

As you all know, I tend to play it straight, and don't much like the psycho socks or dada posts (had a soft spot for Gilligan, though) -- but, whatever turns you on.

		| Tyrone Slothrop Help their cause before November or after? Right now, I think they're completely focused on trying to win the House. They think the GOP is unpopular, and they'd rather make the election a referendum on the GOP's record than on their proposals.

I disagree with this strategy because I don't think it takes too much of a short-term perspective. I think they need to talk more about what they'd do, because that's what gives them the political capital to do it later, whether or not voters picked them for that reason -- and I don't think their agenda will matter much to voters this fall.
 | Losing the House and Senate by slim margins only makes them more viable in 2008 for the White House, because then, the Dems can make the GOP even weaker, while the GOP still has to shoulder all the blame.

If Dems take House, two things will happen. 1) Pelosi, Conyers, et al will ultimately stick their foot in their mouths (they cant help themselves) and will rally the GOP base; 2) Rove starts blaming the House for prevent the GOP from getting anything done. |

In my nape of the neck of the woods I see a lot of "Cantwell for Senate" signs, bumperstickers and buttons each day in my journeys. I frequently think to myself, and sometimes say aloud.....
 "Cant do what well? Govern?"

And then I started lol'ing. When I am in public and this happens sometimes people give me odd looks...

 Thoughts?

 | I believe that Peking is the Wade-Giles transliteration of the Chinese, and that Beijing is the pinyin transliteration, and so the answer might be 1979. More information than you could possible want to know about this topic here .
