Our spines just weren't meant to support our bodies on two feet.
This is also a great response to creationists - if god really created us, he REALLY screwed up with our spines. Or maybe god also had a bad back. A perfect spine for humans would look nothing like the ones we have.

Also, Meditation. I know it's woo woo, but there are some clinical trials that show benefit in chronic back pain (though I'm assuming that yours is acute).

In 2014 (at 39) I came within 3 minutes of it. I was also 14 lbs lighter when I ran the PR at 27 - that extra weight likely cost me a few minutes. According to Runners World, you can run each mile of a marathon 2 seconds faster for each pound you lose - that is significant. What also is notable is that Runners World is a shitty magazine.

You great cow. If I gained 14 (and I assume if you admit this much the truth is closer to 25) lbs of fat I'd walk away from the table a bit earlier. Burpees ain't your problem, it's munchies.

WTF? Our spines spent millions of years evolving to support 4-legged motion, but then stopped evolving for the next 3 million years once we started walking on two feet? Meanwhile, we managed to evolve in all other ways into a species so dominant we'll wipe out everyone on earth, at least until the cockroaches figure out how to attack our backs?

I was probably underweight 13 years ago, but I do like to eat. And drink beer. And bourbon.
ETA: One reason I run is so I can eat like a pig.

Yes and no. Our spines spent tens (hundreds?) of millions of years evolving to support 4-legged motion, but have only spent about 3 million years adapting to walking upright. Refinements have been made, but it's still a crappy design for bipedal locomotion. See:

Evolution ain’t doin’ shit for people past childbearing age, and unfortunately by childbearing age I mean 13 to 26.

Burger is right, the problem with the spine has nothing to do with walking or running, it's other stuff, including sitting for hours.
