I'm saying Facebook did that with an e-mail exchange on gmail.

I think that's just Hank.

Does that mean that four of you blew the same guy, but none of you were all that wild about it?

6+ months ago. Maybe it was part of the whole Bush/NSA/eavesdropping thing?

ok, I've a few kids graduating where i have to buy them their college computers. they have all been urged to accept the Mac as their future BUT one kid has decided he wants a PC because the Mac is too different, or something.
Advice- and put aside the arguments why he should just accept the Mac-
He wants a PC laptop- suggestions? We are ignorant as to shades of PC.
General student, not art student, not heavy math.

Go to CNET and check out their laptop buyer's guide.

This confirms my suspicion that Facebook draws its power from the heart of an orphan child.

I used to be a Dell fan, but of late, I have come to hate them. Dude, don't get a Dell.

I decided to buy a MacBook, so I didn't figure out which PC I'd have bought.

I've got a Sony Vaio that I have been reasonably happy with. I've had Dell's that were okay in the past (but haven't heard good things recently), and based on bad experiences long ago, I would stay away from anything with "Packard" in the name (although who knows, that may not be true anymore). Lenovo is the old IBM laptop brand. We have those at work, and they aren't bad, but are probably pricier than you need (especially as your kid will be smart enough not to run Lotus Notes).
But if I was in the market, I would check out what CNET says.
ETA: I can't believe all you pussies with the Macs. Clearly y'all are a bunch of posers.

No one ever got fired for buying a Dell. I would rather cut off a finger than own another HP/Compaq product.
