The considerate thing to do is ask someone with a comparable seat near your family member to swap.
But he got a funny column out of it.

(And you only feel guilty if you let yourself feel guilty. You know what Dear Abby says: nobody can make you feel bad without your permission!)

Notwithstanding Burger's water landing fiasco where no one survives, some people do.
The planes would be happy to charge everyone for a seat (I think that's the rule internationally, although it's heavily discounted). But the FAA, or whoever controls the regs, has said "no" because it would increase the cost of travel to families with small children, and they would drive instead, which is less safe.

There is some sort of safety harness one can buy to tie the baby onto the adult, not that anyone uses them. Of course, only 50% of passengers fasten their safety belts when told to do so.

That was seriously, for sure, the analysis they did? I would think it would be more the airline lobby, since they can and do sell all the seats and this keeps (cheapass) customers.

But You read Ickes page? Paigow's posts are funnier and marginally more likely to be true.

If you would only have let me sit next to my fucking husband, he would be strong enough to hold both me and the baby securely, because he's not a scrawny little cough drop sucking asshole like you!

You're forgetting he's a b-list celebrity, so he doesn't have to. And he should have switched for the additonal room side to side.

Speaking of out of your fucking mind, it may not be such a prudent idea to post stuff about your reluctance to do indepenent reseacrh to an internet chatroom all day long.

Actually, I love David Sedaris, but his self-reported habit of putting his knees on the seat back in front of him is not polite. Does he not realize that the seat back in front of him is as paper thin as his own, and that the passenger in front of him can feel his knees on his or her back?

The only thing worse is a person who takes of his or her shoes and puts his or her stanky feet on the armrest in front. What the fuck, people? This is NOT your living room. And also, please don't floss next to me. Thank you.

Does this person have midget legs? Because if I stuck my leg there (shod or not), my foot would probably be resting on the tray table in front of them.

Of course, I'm 6"9 (6"6 IRL), so I could be rare in this regard.

Of course, if you were sitting in front of me and I did this, I would expect you to put the armrest up, forcefully.
