Nordstrom's annual post-July 4 sale is as well known as Hank's literary endeavors. He should have been honest. I am pretty sure they usually tell people -- "If this suit goes on sale, we will honor the sale price."
There - fixed it.

The point is that he bought a $495 suit and then felt burning shame in front of his long-suffering wife* when the snarky salesman called Hank out on his attempt to further whittle the price down like a fishwife haggling over the price of day-old mackerel in a stinking, dingy market catering to the lower classes.

At least that's how I read it.

Huh? Is this the same Hank?

I find K-racing to be insufferably common, but congratulations, or well-done, or whatever one says to you sort of people on such occasions.

I find it to be exhilarating, but I always lose. And thus another erection is deflated.

God, I remember the days when Gwinky used to hang out here and no erection was ever left deflated. Fucking facebook (and gwinky's monogamy) have ruined this place.

Around here, if you want to be all like, "sure, I have the money and could spring for a good suit, but the nice ones aren't in the pattern I like, plus I'm frugal and come from hardy working-class stock" and whatever other shit you say to convince yourself you're not just a tight bastard, you can go to Century 21 and dig through the racks. You'll get no attitude from the salespeople there, because (a) good luck finding one and (2) they know they're working in a glorified flea market and the fact that they hate you is a given.
thanks for the advice, but I should mention that when I visit clients they tend to not be in prison.
