In a population with an equal distribution of black and orange alleles, the males would be 50% orange and 50% black, while the females would be 25% orange and 75% black. (Because an equal distribution would result in equal numbers of BB, BO, OB, and OO, where only the OO shows the color).

OK, I don't know what allele means but would the BO just be black and the OB be tortie or calico?
