But he was a top receiver in goal-line situations.

Vrabel has value, but wasn't worth his cap number.

Why did the packers not want to have Favre, but also insisted on trading him rather than cutting him?

As to the second, that's what I kept saying about Favre and Green Bay last year, but very few people agree with me.

So you're saying Cassel wasn't worth a second round pick straight up? The Patriots couldn't have traded Vrabel to any other team in the league (not already in their division) and received any value for him whatsoever? The simple fact is, KC got a lopsided deal. And if Pioli wasn't there, I don't think the Patriots settle for a second rounder for the package they sent over.

So you don't have to compete with other teams that want him? Because other teams see value in his last year and are willing to trade for it too? Pose your own question to KC. Why wouldn't they just say?: "We don't want Vrabel. So we'll give you a third round pick for Cassel." And then they could pick up Vrabel after he gets cut for nothing.

Assuming that 30 other teams want him. Clearly KC did, but he didn't bring any meaningful additional value to the deal or they would have had to give up more than one pick.

A quality snowshoe excursion is about going where you can't go otherwise. Trapsing through hill and dale, over field and flower, without regard to whether you are trodding on a bog or through the briers, since all that is covered with snow and ice is now open to you. You do not take the path less followed because you do not take the path at all.

To snowshoe into the hills is to explore the usually unknown and unseen. To access the inaccessible. And, once there, to revel in it, and then return.

In KC's case, because NE wouldn't give up Cassel for a third round pick.

It's easy to see why KC would want him as a throw in to their Cassel trade. The hard part is why he had so little marginal value in the deal. The only answer I've got is that the Pats didn't think they could get anything for him.
