I own no jersey.

No matter which college football game I am watching, I always wear a bra in one of my alma mater's colors and panties in the other.

Texans fans are generally pretty nice to opposing players. The guys who sit behind us live in San Antonio and come in for four games a year. They sell the others on Stub Hub so it's not uncommon for fans from the other team to sit right behind us. Our favorites last year were the Miami fans who said "we can still lose this" as they were ahead by ten with two and a half minutes to go, and we started arguing about which team was more likely to choke. They were right. They lost it. Those guys singlehandedly changed my boyfriend's opinion of Miami fans. He HATED them when he lived in Miami in the early 90s.
The Bears fans were annoying as hell, and I was glad that we killed their playoff hopes in that game.

This is a big reason why my attendance at live sports events has tailed off in recent years. Having to deal with assholish opposing fans drains a good bit of the fun from it (for me, anyway).
Then again, I don't see many Clemson games these days, so maybe I should reconsider.

My home pro team's stadium was always filled with the opponent's fans and the Bears fans were the worst.

Part of the joy of going to Sox/Yankees games is the crowd interaction. There are always some NYers who show up itching for trouble. It's kind of like Friday on the Board.

in law school my prof was a DC prosecutor- he told us that. and, it wasn't why they started such laws, it was why they were typically still used at the time. Since then the only time I have heard of St. rape being charged was for a 17 y.o. black kid who had consenual sex with his 15 white gf in Ms. and drew 20 years, AND times when the crime was an actual rape. So I'll stand by my statement.
P.S. i went to one of the 40 top 20 law schools in the country FWIW.

Your second paragraph is a little hard to understand due to your usual level of writing clarity, but the point is this: He got his initial sentence, which to us seems ridiculously lenient, in part because different laws and attitudes at the time gave the prosecutor what was probably a legitimate concern that he would walk. So he pleads to that sentence, and then the judge sees the Oktoberfest photo, reneges on the deal, begins acting completely erratically, and suddenly Polanski thinks, not only am I screwed if stick with my plea, but if I go to trial, I will have to go to trial with this guy as my judge.
|
your writing is always clear- still, i read this 5 times to see if i missed something, but nope, you're stuck on "it made sense that he ran." I will say 2.
how does this change the propriety of charging him now?

I may have told this story before, so if I have, please forgive me. (Or, if you are TM, mock me.)
When I was a summer associate, we were treated to an outing at Fenway for a Sox/Yankees game. We had the seats up on the roof on the first base line. In about the 5th innning, two guys got in a fight that wound up with one guy hanging the other guy over the railing, which, had he dropped him, would have resulted in an unpleasant 5-ish story fall.
Best thing about the whole thing was noticing that all the players on the field had stopped playing to turn around and watch the fight.

I don't know why they are so angry. Even when the Bears win.

That's lively even for the Sox - Yankees. You got a good game!

2. The only reason I go to NFL games is because out-of-town friends fly in for them.

Interesting. My sources tell me that in Green Bay the worst, by a large margin, are the Vikings fans.

Top Chef
If anyone is a fan of Fabio (this is Top Chef, not Top Scallop) from last season, he is getting his own Bravo show. I will at least watch the first episode.

Also Padma is knocked up.
