Trying to do this other than on bike sounds relatively insane,** though skiing would be better than hiking or running.

**On second thought, even biking it is completely insane.
I know guys that do that race. One of them tried to convince me to buy a Pugsley and do it. "You'll love it. It's better than Leadville." Whatever.

Well, it was a Chinese restaurant. I didn't join the network though.
I was in a soon-to-be-defunct Borders yesterday, and espied a sizable number of Bukowski works on the not-quite-fully-picked-over shelves.

the posting of something with at least two insider-only references is not the act of someone trying to build newber traffic

Elvis-Hendrix-Bukowski: three artists who died with a bunch of crap unpublished cuz they deemed it unworthy, and then it all got shat out.

smh

I'm tired of catering to the Newbers. In 2011, I am only going to post about which posters I have met for drinks, and which ones stood me up.

I'd be quite happy to stand you up for drinks this evening, especially as the snow outside my office window has been moving mostly parallel to the ground all day.

I really should be at home.

Trust me, that snow eventually finds ground. Most of it seems to have hit the ground on my driveway.

I shoveled for around 4 hours yesterday with nary a one of those helpful trucks with blades venturing down my block which hadn't been plowed. And today I shoveled for another 4 hours, mostly working on the huge berm left when the plow eventually came through. None of the driveway plowing trucks came past today until I was almost done. Argh.

Oh and the worst of it is.....it's. still. snowing. :'(

Yes, and I shall prance merrily back through to skyways to my home soon, hopefully not getting to entirely bogged in the snow for the tiny bit I must travel outside.

I'm pretty sure I've got a shovel somewhere, but I haven't used it all winter (and don't intend to start now).

maybe you've got it. what if we get super-exclusive: "Fuck the newbers" as our motto. 90% inside shit that you have to have been here for years to get, then, once that's softened them up we sic Thurgreed to go yell at them.

Studio 54 didn't get popular by an open door policy.

You may not have heard, but unattractiveness is kind of my thing.

As is smugness. I can't tell you how pleased I am at having stood up PLF for drinks.

if you want to get southern credibility call it "whiskey" then drop clues where it's made with enough detail that people realize you mean bourbon-
like this:

"what're you drinking?"
"whiskey."
"what one?"
"buffalo trace, from Kentucky."
"oh, bourbon."
"I suppose a Yankee would call it that. I call it whiskey."

I do something similar when drinking glenrothes
