Appreciate all y'all and sorry
Thanks to all y'all and I'm sorry I got hit. It's truly sucky. Avoid if at all possible.

Had Hank not said trendy/funky or what ever is was, citronelle would have been the rex. although maybe not for a big group.
Not sure why I didn't think of Central.
You have chosen well.

Re: Lamest k race win ever
So "On Top of the World" by Shonen Knife is on my iPod rotation, but it's always left me edgy and today I finally realized why- it's over the opening credits of the most vile movie ever; Lindsey's Lohan's Parent Trap.
Two wealthy people have identical twin girls, then decide to break up and they decide to each take one girl, and raise then each without ever telling them about their identical twin sister. Seriously?
Anyone, tell me a story about a more narcissistic pair of people. You can't, how surprising.
And worse, the plot is about how the girls try to get these two monsters back together? They should have hired a lawyer to emancipate them from the 'rents, or better have the girls take a "hard candy" turn and kill the fuckers.
But they end up back together, which means the girls are both headed for trouble. Parent Trap II? Well one thing for sure is that Lindsey Lohan can play the role of how the girls will turn out.
Worse is that the story made money. I'm thinking if that thing sold I should try to sell this: Charlie Manson and Squeaky Frome, a Love Story. Show the funny things that endeared her to him, PG-13 love scenes, raise doubt about the murders. And best, the next 6 sequels are all teed up.

If only we had an experimental control -- a child actress who starred in "The Parent Trap" and DIDN'T wind up a coked-up disaster.
OH at church this morning: "How much coke did Charlie Sheen do? Enough to kill two and a half men." I LOL'ed, and not just 'cause the guy flew Army helicopters in Iraq and could find 30 ways to kill me with his bare hands or objects in reach.

I don't recall what he was asking, but if I had a chance to eat at Komi I would take it. I have been there twice and both times it was stellar.
More realistically, Central or Oyamel have treated me well.
If you can get to Rockville, go to Sichuan Pavilion. Best Szechuan I have ever had, and very much worth the schlep.

I think he said big group though. Doesn't work at Komi, no? (I've never actually been, but that was my impression).
You have however given me an idea for a potential place to eat when I'm there at the end of the month.

Central is excellent, but wouldn't call it funky/trendoid. If the group just wants amazing food, then that's a great choice.

Komi won't take parties over 4 (or maybe 6).
ETA: I forgot about one the "trendiest" restaurants in D.C. -- Coco Sala in Penn Quarter. Focus is on chocolate and coffee flavors, but they serve entrees (mostly small plates, IIRC) as well as desserts. Lots of different and interesting tasting menus.

Yes. That's clearly what I'm looking for. A place where everyone is blonde.
