I have a friend from Boston who, as a kid in high school, got his dad's tickets at Fenway Park for a Yankees game, about five rows up right behind the on deck circle. The moment Reggie Jackson entered the on deck circle, he began loudly chanting, "Reeeeeggie, Reeeeeggie, Reeeeeggie . . . ." It was clear Jackson could hear him, but Jackson never turned around or reacted in any way. The next time Jackson was in the on deck circle, the same scenario played out. No reaction whatsoever from Jackson. Same thing the time after that. Finally, in the ninth, Jackson was in the circle again, and my friend was chanting "Reeeeggie, Reeeeggie, Reeeeeggie . . ." and Reggie actually turned around and looked right at him, and at that very moment, my friend shouted "FUCK YOU!" It remains one of the most satisfying sports spectating moments of his life. I guess my point is that hearing New York fans talk about Boston sports teams or Boston fans talk about New York sports teams is like listening to Trump opine about Obama's birth place. It is entertaining in a weird way, but uninformative.
