Me, I am taking the 5th if a fed asks me what time it is. EVERY big fed case starts with a witness innocently talking to the feds, violating 1001 and being a pawn.

Consider George Papadopoulos. The special counsel secured his guilty plea not for improper contact with the Russians but for lying about that contact to the FBI. Consider Michael Flynn. He too pled guilty not to unlawful contact with Russians but to lying to the FBI about that contact. Consider Scooter Libby, or Martha Stewart, or Dennis Hastert, or James Cartwright, all taken down by the feds not for their alleged original misconduct but for lying about it. Even when catching someone in a lie isn't enough to force them to plead guilty, it can add charges to a case. Consider Paul Manafort and Richard Gates, charged not just with substantive crimes but with lying to the FBI about them.
Or don't lie. Also, don't do shit you need to lie about.

Thanks a bunch, jackass. This advice is approximately 45 years too late to be of any help to me. The advice I need now is how to dig myself out of a 45 year hole of doing things I shouldn't be doing and then lying about it. Hit me up on the DM when you have that one figured out.

Dumbest ever.

Trump's tweet about his demand that China make up $1 billion of the trade imbalance was supposed to be $100 billion.

He can't even stupid right.

I spoke to them once. But I wasn't a target.

They wanted info on something. Thankfully, I knew nothing. Took ten minutes.

But if you are a possible target, or have something to hide, as DeNiro said, "don't rat on your friends, and always shut your mouth."

You haven't just given up and started saying, "Yeah, I did it. Fuck it. What can I say?"

I mean, this won't work with the Big Sins. But it works with the small ones. It also sets the bar appropriately. When people expect dysfunction, they don't hound you about it so much.

I talk to them all the time. Healthcare is almost always under investigation in some way or another.
