Disappointing Cobra successor.

I've never really been a fan of the oroginal Cobra, though it is certainly a badass car. As for the new GT, I wonder if they will be making any without those horrible racing stripes...

Should be priced around $150k. For that cash, I would assume that Ford would build them to order, but every pic I've seen has those damed stripes.
Here are a few...
I threw this next one in because it's just plain cool (from C&D's comparo of the GT, the Ferrari f360-based Challenge Stradale, and the Porsche 911 GT3; won handily by the GT, BTW)

Still, for $150k, maybe this would be more practical?

As my cousin explained to me back when I was about 8, stripes make it go faster.
I thought the Cobra didn't look too bad, but I also thought it looked like it can't possibly be the modern equivalent of the original. I haven't seen the specs, but to be relatively the same, compared to modern cars, it would need to have a 900 hp engine and weigh about 1500 lbs.

Mazda 3 Sedan
I saw a Mazda 3 sedan on the road today. I was surprised. It was a really sweet looking car. Sort of like an A4 a little shorter but same nice lines, etc.

Life After Death
I will not enjoy this day whenever it arrives:
Quote:
David Schneider's eyes lit up, his jaw dropped and his heart raced as he reached out to touch the brilliant, metallic silver exterior of a Porsche Carrera GT.
``That's probably the closest I'm ever going to get to this car,'' Schneider said of the $440,774, 605-horsepower sports car.
He turned to his wife, Samantha, who was tugging impatiently at his sleeve while trying to turn the stroller carrying their 2-year-old son.
``I don't want to mortgage the house twice just to buy a car,'' she said. ``Come on, let's go look at a minivan.''

Concur. Got a chance look at one while waiting for a drive of the 6 (itself not bad at all). If I were looking for something small, the 3 would go to the top of the list.
The Detroit Free Press ( www.freep.com) has extensive coverage of the auto show, including an interesting section today with a panel of "ordinary folks". Easily the biggest love it or hate ride was the new Chrysler 300C:
Don't think it's for me, but could be a lot of fun to drive.

Looks terrific, but (and this should not come as a surprise) prefer the 5-door:

When it does, remember it's not really as emasculating as it seems to you now.
At least, that's what I told myself on the way home.

I saw one today, too, and one at the DC auto show. It looks like they took a low $30k sedan and shrunk it down -- some real style and heft to it. I'm curious to see how it drives.

BMW's
I know BMW is in the process of putting out redesigns of their various models, with a 7, 5 and the return of the 6. Isn't there a new 3 that's supposed to be out in the next couple of years?
Also I heard they were doing a 1 and a 4 series... Any news on them?

BMW is going to even-numbered designations for coupes, odd for sedand/wagons. The new 3er is still under wraps. However, a few pics of the new 4er have come out. This is the best I've seen so far:

Edited to provide link instead (picture was messing up the page.)

Looks nice. Could be pony's new car in 29 months or so. Or maybe could be if things don't go my way.
