My husband grew up in a non-English-speaking country, and though he attended an English-speaking school, when on the playground (metaphorically and literally), would speak to his buddies in their native language. As a result, though he speaks perfect English, he is unfamiliar with well-known infantile taunts and phrases.
Thus, when I say things like "the smeller is the feller..." or "he who smelt it, dealt it" and similar, he thinks I am a comic genius. (I'm lucky that way.)
