Note to Dick Cheney: A 51% victory is NOT a mandate.

I agree she'd bomb, but few candidates have such self-recognition.
This cannot happen. Can someone please plant a young male/female intern near her so she can be scandalized?

Did he do something recently indicating he will act as though it is (or, worse, say it)?

Like the so-called war on drugs, the so-called war on terror isn't going to end. Should we just name him proconsul and be done with it?

President Bush ran forthrightly on a clear agenda for this nation's future and the nation responded by giving him a mandate.

Willful ignorance is something to be encouraged? Dems have not lost "all traction" in huge chunks of the country (unless you're talking about the middle swath of Dakotas to Texas and Idaho/Montana -- but they didn't have much there to begin with). This wasn't an electoral landslide, or even a popular vote landslide. This wasn't a Reagan re-election, but at least it was a real election.

Well, he got a majority of the popular vote and of the electoral votes, so he does technically have the authority . . . since (IMO) he's no uniter, the authority/power is really all that counts.

Now, to say that the American populace is overwhelmingly behind him would be wrong. But he's the CEO for the next four years, whether we like it or not.

How would it have been different under Gore? No fair answering that we wouldn't have gone to war, because Kerry's arguments don't allow for that, see prior post.

No harm to you, though, just no benefit.

Wouldn't know - I don't even vote for school board members figuring those of you with kids should pick your own.

(5) I have had to watch the whining condescending bastard on a daily basis for four years. If he complains about "hard work" from his ranch one more time I'll scream.
You would rather have heard Gore speechifying? ;o)

This leaves us with a battle solely over social issues, and the Republicans are going to win that battle.
that's the best capsule analysis of the results I've read all day.

That is so hot.
