They invited him onto a "serious" show and he wanted to be serious. Carlson didn't like what he was being serious about and instead of addressing it, acted like a dick. The only reason why either of the two were "stumped as to what to do" was because they had absolutely nothing to say to counter the criticism.

Yeah. I saw it. Vanilla Ice took a fucking bat to everything on the set and I think everyone in the room thought he had lost his fucking mind because they were making fun of him and his video to his face. The fact of the matter is that, when one's opponent runs a negative ad, if a candidate doesn't respond with a negative ad, the candidate's ratings drop. The reason we have negative ads is because idiot joe sixpack/average jane housewife respond to them.

The occassional negative add doesn't bother me - it's just part of the game. It is the campaign that is all negative all the time where I say it's a clear sign the incumbent needs to go.

It may be what you say, but unfortunately, negative ads work with voters. You live in a country where a sizable percentage of people believe that Iraq attacked us on 9/11 and New Mexico is another country. What do you expect from these people?
