Keeping it civil instead of returning to our dark ways

Stewart comes out and launches into a diatribe. Carlson and Begala, both taken aback, try to restore some semblance of order to the show. Stewart continues - gets into it with Carlson. Begala sits there, presumably stumped as to what to do.
They invited him onto a "serious" show and he wanted to be serious. Carlson didn't like what he was being serious about and instead of addressing it, acted like a dick. The only reason why either of the two were "stumped as to what to do" was because they had absolutely nothing to say to counter the criticism.

After several attempts to get Stewart to engage in the show's dynamic or to otherwise"be funny" (to which he replied "I'm not your monkey"), Carlson suggested the obvious - that having such a high-handed, lecturing, self-important twit scolding everyone at the dinner table would not be very much fun.
The show's dynamic? I thought debate was the show's dynamic? Is he only allowed to respond to direct questions on their show? Where is the proper forum for him to ask them why they aren't doing their jobs as "journalists?"

By the way, Carlson must have been talking to you when he made that last comment because it only makes sense to the purposefully stupid. If you look real hard at the tv the next time you tune into Crossfire, you will notice that they aren't sitting at a fucking dinner table.

Stewart is more self-deprecating than Carlson could ever hope to be. Clearly you don't watch anything he does.

BTW - does anyone else here recall what a pussy Stewart was - many years ago - when doing a show on MTV that purported to "retire" the song Ice Ice Baby. Much like Stewart on Crossfire, Rob "Vanilla" Ice Van Winkle decided to ignore the concept of the show and go off-script and trash the set. Stewart was speechless and almost looked like he was going to cry. Et tu, Jonnne.
Yeah. I saw it. Vanilla Ice took a fucking bat to everything on the set and I think everyone in the room thought he had lost his fucking mind because they were making fun of him and his video to his face. Shit was flying everywhere. And I think Stewart (and others) were reacting to it in the funniest way they could. Exaggerated fear.

And the fact that you added this to your post shows to what lengths you will go to not prove a point.

The fact of the matter is that, when one's opponent runs a negative ad, if a candidate doesn't respond with a negative ad, the candidate's ratings drop. The reason we have negative ads is because idiot joe sixpack/average jane housewife respond to them.
The occassional negative add doesn't bother me - it's just part of the game. It is the campaign that is all negative all the time where I say it's a clear sign the incumbent needs to go.

Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

Civilized civilization and civil civility

Hi again, y'all. Some of you might like this (completely safe) link. Starting with God's view of everything, it focuses in to an atomic level on the leaf of a plant. Seriously cool link, and probably a good thing for kids to see.

Hello

It may be what you say, but unfortunately, negative ads work with voters. You live in a country where a sizable percentage of people believe that Iraq attacked us on 9/11 and New Mexico is another country. What do you expect from these people?
