It's a House rule. It could be renewed next session . . .
Expect them to be in session more if the Dems win in Nov.

Ah, good, right. Does it really give any meaningful transparency? I tried looking up on NYT and CNN, but couldn't find anything recent.

No,because it's prospective, and they've passed 12 of 13 appropriations bills already. I'm not sure it applies to changes in conference.
If, however, it creates pressure to readopt the rule in the new session, that's a good thing.

Or, perhaps, listening to military leaders instead of threatening to fire those who disagree with the White House.

You see, Hank, first you lose the women's book club members, then the Generals and the military go, and before you know it -- all that's left are the bitter, overpaid, white male suburbanites, sitting around trying to figure out why they couldn't get shit done when they controlled both the White House and Congress (other than, of course, busting all their budgets).

I have to agree with you that there are several bitter overpaid suburban white males who post here, but I bet we disagree over who meets the criteria.

I live in the city and even with the $700K median I am underpaid relative to my intellectual fire power, so I am out.

I am paid exactly what I'm worth, but I am the man. And seattle isn't really a city in the sense GGG means.

- Peter Roskam, the GOP candidate to succeed outgoing Rep. Henry Hyde, accused Dem opponent Tammy Duckworth of wanting to "cut and run" from Iraq during a debate a couple days ago. The use of this common pro-war talking-point in this case surprised some observers—not to mention Duckworth herself—because the veteran Duckworth lost both of her legs in Iraq.

the Dems have sought out injured soldiers as candidates. the fact that someone was brave as a soldier does not equate to being brave as a congressman. I know that thought is beyond most of you.
Here's what I find odd- when these young people are volunteeering for the military you lot charecterize them as slightly dim and fooled into signing up. Once they are injured they suddenly increase in IQ and are now great candidates for congress? choose one side or the other I say.
