The gimmick is that it allows one to rationalize a trip to Germany and a run down the autobahn in the new car. The cost of the shipping plus travel is roughly equal to what you pay for them to ship it here. I would also have to check to confirm, but I think you avoid the gas guzzzler tax by taking delivery outside the US.

This is not true in the case of BMW. Shipping is included in the price, just as it is when you buy one in the US. And you do not avoid the guzzler tax, if applicable.

Also, you'd need to budget for sales tax as most assuredly BMW Deutschland has not filed a certificate with the Board of Equalization and equally assuredly the state believes sales and/or use taxes are due upon delivery.

Judge Killah, Presiding
Now this might make the People's Court worth watching:
(My SIL interviewed Ghostface for an unrelated show in the same studio where they shoot People's Court, and was nice enough to snap a pic on the bench).

Indeed, much as they are due when you purchase a car at your local stealership.*
*I think I read a BMW forum post by someone who had managed to escape california's tax by keeping the car in Germany (or out of California, because of delivery delays) for >90 days. Somehow that allowed him to claim it was not a new car and therefore not taxable. That said, I'm not sure that post was made before or after he got the inevitable tax due notice.

I'm not as much of a tax scold as that post would make me appear. I need a critical mass of use tax scofflaws to keep all the air from going out of my sense of moral superiority when I pay it. If everybody paid it, how much better than them would I be? And the answer is "None." "None more better."

Dating etiquette question
As you all are aware of the generally rather juvenile nature of my romantic experiences, I have a scenario to ask about. So I decided to do online dating, which led to a date with woman A last week. Lagging a bit behind that I was also trading emails with woman B and scheduled a date with her for this week.
In the intervening time, I actually ended up seeing woman A two more times eventually hooking up. Obviously I kind of like woman A. Then had the first date with woman B last night, which also went well and who I also liked, at least as much as you can tell over an hour and a half chat.
For some reason I felt the need to tell woman A about the fact of the date with woman B (well, specifically because of some comments she made), which in hindsight was probably unwise.
So, I am sure it's shocking to all of the much more experienced and adult people around here, but for me sex has always meant at least de facto exclusivity and I've never really been in the situation of dating/sleeping with one women while also trying to date another. Is it unfair to woman A to want to also pursue things with woman B? Obviously we've only known each other for a week, and there can be no expectation of exclusivity.
