I would like them (i.e., the area code setting people) to redo area codes altogether, and use something like the zipcode system. It's a total mess now. Give out sequential numbers by state. Divide them up by cell/landline maybe (so 212 can be Manhattan, and 213 is manhattan cell phones). JUst make some damn sense out of it all.

Wow.
This conversation comes on the day I officially switch from my coveted 214 area code (hip Dallas uptown) to 818 (Valley), after two years of resistance solely due to area code snobbery (and a hint of laziness). Yuck. I keep reminding myself that Dave Grohl, Prince and 90% of the porn industry all have 818 numbers.

They probably put her in 323 when they heard she just wanted "whatever the free phone is". Totally blew her BH cred.

I make fun of my sister's 281 cell number.

Yeah, but I'm kinda livin' on the edge, you know. It's not for everyone.

A couple people were acting like it wasn't as if the area code is actually important, because I'm not in NY.

The whole "it's not an error if he doesn't touch the ball" thing is stupid. Just like Milton Bradley deserved an error yesterday in the 9th, so did Hunter today. Why is it fair to pitchers to get tagged with earned runs in this situation?

Is this a clever word game? You should know you are exempt due to the whole knowing about Classe Audio and StraightWire thing. For the most part I have wisely stayed silent on the whole brand snob discussion for fear of persecution because of my views.

Now, Lizard Boy...

I'm hanging on to my 206. Fuck these people, they can pay long distance. The only phone calls I care about come from the 206 anyway.

Does having an 818 help when telling the young girls in the bars that you're a "producer?" And that you'd like them to "audition" for you (hi ncs!)?

It seems to me that they're fairly meaningless with half the world on cell phones these days moving across the country and keeping their numbers.

But the remainder have no waist band, so they end up around the riders' ankles almost immediately. Which is win-win.
