Well, it looks like I now have some fun summer reading to do:

Evaluation of Testosterone/Epitestosterone Ratio Influential Factors as Determined in Doping Analysis
D.H. van de Kerkhof1, D. de Boer1,2, J.H.H. Thijssen1,3, and R.A.A. Maes1
1Utrecht Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Department of Human Toxicology, University of Utrecht, Sorbonnelaan 16, 3584 CA Utrecht, The Netherlands; 2Instituto Nacional do Desporto, Laboratório de Análises de Dopagem e Bioquímica, Av. Prof. Egas Moniz (Estádio Universitário), 1600 Lisboa, Portugal; and 3Department of Endocrinology, Academisch Ziekenhuis Utrecht, Heidelberglaan 100, P.O. Box 8550, 3508 GA Utrecht, The Netherlands

The ratio of the concentration of testosterone glucuronide to the concentration of epitestosterone glucuronide (T/E ratio) as determined in urine is the most frequently used method to prove testosterone abuse by athletes. A T/E ratio higher than 6 has been considered as proof of abuse in the past; however, cases of naturally occurring higher T/E ratios have been described. Since the introduction of the T/E ratio in doping analysis, the parameters that may or may not influence the T/E ratio, possibly leading to false-positive results, have been debated. To achieve more insight on the influencing circumstances, an overview is given to obtain an objective view on the merits of the urinary T/E ratio. Relevant analytical aspects of the T/E ratio, potential parameters of endogenous and exogenous origins, as well as some alternative methods to determine testosterone abuse, such as the urinary testosterone/luteinizing hormone ratio, gas chromatography– combustion–isotope-ratio mass spectrometry, hair analysis, and high-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry, are discussed.

Well, I've met him and I certainly don't approve of him. In fact, I would go so far as to say he is the opposite of approvable (and my standards are pretty fucking low). What, exactly, is your mother smoking these days? Is Less providing her with it?

I am going to try just once . . . why do you care? Moreover, why do you think we would care? Seriously, why? Because even the minimal effort it took for you to cut and paste the text from wherever you got it is such a public admission (and indictment) of a vapid character that I find it hard to believe that someone with more than 16 years of school would commit it. Nevermind, I feel dirty and putrid for wasting my time even writing this.

He even showed her his pictures from Burning Man and she still likes him. I don't know -- maybe she hates me? Maybe she secretly resents that she's only slept with one man in her entire life and she wants a more exciting swinger-style life for her beloved daughter? Or maybe it's just reverse psychology....

Take notes, Weedy, in case your daughter is ever thinking about dating Less. The only way to dissuade her may be to hang out with both of them in Vegas and gush about how fun and charming he is. You up for that?

I think it might help if she added a description of the clothes she is wearing when she does her shopping stories, for context.

Ann Taylor navy skirt suit, Thomas Pink shirt and pearls underneath and heels. That is what I was wearing at the time of purchase/perusal.

maybe the problem is they keep testing American men's testosterone levels and comparing them to French standards?

I almost pitied the bartenders who had to come in early to prep those, but then I remembered their important role in servicing the sheep (Hi NFH!).
This drink has come roaring back. I grabbed a beer last night at a bar downtown before going to Little India for dinner and the bartender made more than a dozen of them in the 45 minutes I was there. She said people order them all the time.

Now, I don't know if it's because of the new Bacardi ad (which I don't mind watching) where everyone is doing "The Mojito" or if it's just a summer thing, but that silly drink is back.

So I guess soulpatches are back in too.
