I was reading a bit more about the conspicracy guys rants on the Saddam capture linked from littlegreenfootballs.com, Iwon't post because lfg is depressing, but if you want to be amazed go there and read on this issue.

but eventually I did get to a link that was encouraging. the saudi ambassador thinks we should tell old Europe to fuck off, in fact he can't believe old Europe has the balls to ask:

i do think the word choice "chutzpah" is interesting:

Leaks, which seem to happen quite regularly. There are plenty of reports online that you can read that tell you at least some of what he has been saying in captivity. I am sure that we aren't hearing everything, but I believe some of it is getting out and is being widely reported.

I'm guessing, and this may be way, way out there in left field, but I'm guessing that it won't be as easy for him to communicate while he is under US control as it was when he was being hidden with the help of supporters who were willing and even eager to spread any messages he wanted to get out.

But then I think about all the stuff we are hearing from the people imprisoned in Guantanamo, and realize I must be wrong. No doubt Diane Sawyer and Tom Brokaw will be interviewing him within the next few days, and showing unedited versions. Hell, there'll probably be Saddam webcam.

Wow, what a great day for the country, but a great day for the admin as well. It's funny, a big reason I dismiss the conspiracy theorists (aside from the general farfetchedness of the idea) is that if the admin wanted to time this for maximum benefit w/r/t the election I would think they'd be more likely to wait until the primaries start. It was pretty amazing to see all the "we got him" signs in the stands at the NFL games today only a few hours after the word got out; if this was next July I would think it would result in an electoral tidal wave for GWB. Maybe it will anyway, esp if they drag OBL out of that cave sometime soon.

The US military truly deserves our thanks and congrats...
