Delicious. Next to the Cuban, my favorite sandwich. And I can eat more than one of them a year. Unfortunately, they are not available in my part of town. Whenever I go to the North Side, I grab one, though.

Bahn Mi is great (are?) when made properly but they strike me as the most preciously delicate sandwich around. too many people that have no idea what they are doing sell them. It's like dating off the FB, sure every so often you hit it big, like Slave did with his wife, but you can also draw a paigow.

Amen. For a chain, they're awesome. So happy that a Windy City refugee introduced me to them shortly after one opened in my office's neck of TCOTU.
Wonk, Chipotle can be a relatively good option, healthy eating wise, if you can resist the guacamole, sour cream, and cheese temptations.

But think about walking down a shopping street in Asia and a half block away you can see the guy you know will get in your face and say "coach, watches, cheap." Not because he knows what you are looking for or what you might like. Instead it's just that you are American and have money. now turn that into he is just saying it because you are a woman. and these guys are constant, every day.

This is a New York problem, right? There is no culture of street harassment in SF. Well, basically none. When I was in high school a group of guys offered to fuck me from across the Powell Street station. What they actually said was “Nice socks; wanna fuck?” and I’m not sure whether they were serious about either part. But one time in 25+ years is not a lot.

There's a massive Vietnamese population here, and therefore quite a number of sandwich/pho shops. I've never had a bad one. And never had one for more than four dollars (usually less). With them and the taco trucks everywhere, it's very easy to eat fast and cheap without setting foot in a conventional fast food place.
I went for pho today. Also cheap, quick and relatively healthy.

Guacamole is a very healthy thing and a great substitute for the cheese and sour cream. Avocados are high in Omega-3 fatty acids, loaded with antioxidants, provide a lot of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Chipotle goes a little heavy on the salt, but I would almost never turn down guacamole that is fresh and well-made.

Are you trying to say that because no men catcall you in SF you assume there is no catcalling going on to women? Because that is some odd logic, if so.

I know you guys have it there. Vietnamese is the main thing I miss about living in DC. Here we have very few places and what there is is spotty. I think ethnic restaurants need comp to keep their game up. There is 1 Korean place with 2 miles of my house. It sucks, both in service and food. A few years back there were 3, which I knew was over saturation, but while the 3 were around they all stepped up. Service and quality were great at all 3. Then 2 went out of business and the remaining one slipped.
