If you're traveling today, just remember: it could be worse.

NYers!!! My kid has been floating through some internship and acting stuff but need some $$$. The city is so tough. Last week she was all excited for this office thing, but it turns out it was a scam. 5 days of unpaid "training" mailing junk mail, then you get fired.

Are there good office job websites she should check? She has law office experience is you know of anything.

Maybe Icky can promise her a generous cash settlement as a name plaintiff.

Don't you have to have an incurable disease for Icky to even let you in his office?

Burger is a wise man - wage and hours litigation under state law is booming here in TCOTU. She should seriously consider taking some action, even if it's just having her father write for her a pissy letter using the magic words "Labor Law section 198" in it.

As for your actual question, the managing partner at my shop seems to think that Craigslist is a good place to find employees. That seems nuts to me, but I suspect that he is not alone in that. Back in the day, aspiring actors and artists used temp agencies. A prior firm I was at used Special Counsel, and they seemed pretty legit.

Maybe there was asbestos in the ceiling tiles in the no doubt decrepit (and possibly condemned) space that her scammers were using. Or maybe he would like a part-time paralegal who doesn't send opposing counsel things that are meant for clients and vice versa.

Your offspring was just fired because she couldn't stuff envelopes. Maybe now is not the time to be too picky?

You want me to hire someone who's dad makes fun of me?

Seriously, I am not sure if we are looking for PT people but if you send me a resume IRL I will pass it on.

OTOH, Special Counsel is good but I think you need bulky experience.

It used to be that California lawyers would be out looking for potential plaintiffs who weren't injured at all, the better to avoid federal courts. Ah, those were the days.
