I struggled between Sleeper, Take the Money and Run, and Play it Again, Sam. I didn't want to give Woody too many slots. The problem with only 25 is that you can't do people like Woody, Peter Sellers, Blake Edwards, and Harold Ramis justice.

True. How do you choose between the (good) Pink Panther movies?

Yeah, way old. Just like many on the lists, Blazing Saddles, Stripes, Animal House--the difference being that I wouldn't put MASH on any list. I'm defiant like that. I wouldn't call the movie an abortion or anything, but I would say that it appeals to those of a certain age and personality.

Exactly. And I wound up leaving what is possibly the best satire ever filmed, and the best movie of all time, Being There, off the list because it was too subtle to be laugh your ass off funny, which a list this short demands.

I tried soooo hard to laugh at that one. I turned it off about 5 minutes into the 15 minute scene of 2 men (one fat) naked wrestling in a hotel room. Maybe the funniest parts of the movie were after that scene? (Too lazy to read all the lists but didn't seem like these were on it: Big, Splash and Annie Hall).**

**And Roxanne and 3 Amigos (if only for the fake bird call scene).

I don't think I would call Being There a comedy, nor Amelie, which was on GGG's list.

And the hallway, elevator and hotel lobby...

If you didn't think that scene was hilarious, you either are not the right audience for the movie (seems likely) or were not watching it with the right company. But I admit that it is definitely the type of movie that is better if you are watching it wiht others who share an appropriately juvenile sense of humor.

I still have belly laughs though thinking about the depiction of John Webster.

I went with Love and Death (I'm a sucker for comedies with literary references, you know) and Play It Again, Sam, but would have been happy with any of 8 or 9 Woody's (Crimes and Misdemeanors, Bananas, Annie Hall, even Mighty Aphrodite). I considered Sleeper; it was 4th on my Woody list, because even though it is hilarious, I don't think it's stood the test of time as well as some of his others.

Was Election on anyone's list? I love that movie.

Also Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. San Dimas highschool football rules!
I love Ferris Bueller, and I know the guy who played him on TV!

I also love Bill and Ted's.

But I still enjoy the Breakfast Club, About Last Night, and Say Anything.

I didn't think his bit on John Webster was good at all.

The only thing that doesn't stand the test of time is the ability to relate to all the teen Angst in the movie. But to the extent it transports you back to high school, yeah, it's still funny. Maybe not top 25, though.

How is Amalie on a list? It was amusing, but the only thing I remember is the scene with her lying in bed looking at the ceiling thinking of various things while Coltrane pistons away on top of her.

Traveling gnome.

Clip with bug going into mouth during kiss.

Besides, chicks dig guys who like Amelie.
