Generic Winter Gift-Giving Holiday Wish List

Among my younger boys "wished for" items:
 Ninja stuff
 Farting Machine
 A cape

WTH? When their father was reading the list to me, I laughed at "a cape" and asked whether it was for his evenings out at the OP-era -- such as La Boheme. He thought maybe he was going for the Monopoly guy look.

I guess this is for other people to get excited about and not me. I like the Elliot Spitzer-style scandals and can get worked up about Kobe Bryant rape-like stuff. To me, this feels like Octomom/Jon & Kate blah.
 | Spitzer's still the gold standard because he was such a scolding Puritan. But Woods is close because, as TM noted, he's unblemished so far. The further the fall, the more satisfying the schadenfreude.

Octomom and Jon & Kate aren't apt comparisons because they started off train wrecks and pretty much ended up where you expected them to. Rode the arc, so to say.

You're fucked. Send him to military school now.

And, although his fans (and I include myself in that group) are amazed by him, he really only gives a shit about his image and his corporate deals. At this point, I doubt he'd give a shit about majors if he thought he'd earn more by skipping them.
I think people love to see the mighty fall. And, although I doubt this stupid story will ever be close to bringing him down, I doubt we'll see the reaction you outlined, especially if he never actually discusses what really happened.

 TM
 | But really... How does Woods "fall"? If he just keeps doing what he does, meaning win tournaments relentlessly, he'll overcome anything, and keep his every endorsement. That's the beauty of the guy. You can hate him all fucking day and he doesn't care. He'll make his statements on the course. And as long as he does that, the car companies and Nike will pour money into him. They won't have the option of not doing so.

He's one of those odd talents who's actually bigger than the media/PR game. Which might explain his arrogant reaction so far.

I, for one, love the "fuck you... I'll talk when I feel like it" pose. Says exactly the right thing to fans - "Leave me the fuck alone. I give you what you want. This is personal shit."

And I understand and appreciate the joke. But people (and I don't mean you particularly, because this applies to everyone, including black people) need to understand that black people are black because of the color of their skin. Because he doesn't speak with what people think of as "black vernacular" is irrelevant. In some cases it may be evidence of someone who is black who doesn't want to identify with other black people and isn't interested in their heritage or history. But the fact that speaking with a voice with less bass or using proper grammar, etc. enables so many to place him in the "not-really-black" category, starts to get offensive.

I hear this shit sometimes. Hell, a certain amount of education at all subjects you to this kind of garbage. "You don't talk black." "Thurgreed isn't really black." Yeah. All good fun until I want to fuck your lilly-white daughter. Then I get black again real quick, don't I? Cabbies don't care about grammar. Cops don't give a shit how you talk if you're in the wrong neighborhood. Partners don't assign work based on whether or not you speak well. And racists sure as hell don't care about any of that (please see treatment of Obama or do a google image search for Michelle Obama).

Anyway, not to get all serious, because I appreciate the joke, like it and sometimes use it myself. Just want to make sure that people don't get too comfortable with it.*

*And this is one of the reasons why I love Chappelle so much. He walked away from $50 million dollars, at least partly, because of this.

 | Hey, our youngest two are getting fencing lessons for Christmas this year. They could use capes.
