				Plaintiff Work Versus Citi

A finance blog posted communications from Citi to 2 borrowers who faced interest rates resets that would reduce their mortgage; the letters warned of higher interest rates, and solicited refinancing at a HIGHER fixed rate mortgage. I don't know consumer lending laws, but I'd guess some crafty plaintiff lawyers could dig up a class of citi borrowers who received letters like this and craft claims for something, maybe fraud, maybe violations of some consumer protection law, maybe something else. These citi letters sound like a lawsuit waiting to happen. |

I need help. Do people leave money for a maid when checking out of a hotel? I checked out of an expensive place and left nothing. i never leave anything. But I read that some maid tip is proper.

Who gives maid tips and how much?

 | When I stay at a hotel for 3 or 4 nights and part of it is weekday and part weekend, I leave $10 on the bed on Friday morning. Then, when I check out over the weekend I leave $10 on the bed because the hotel maids are usually different on the weekends than on the weekdays. Along with the $, I leave various trinkets acquired during the business trip/conference (calculators, notepads with pens, chocolate with some company name on it, and other free stuff from conferences) b/c they can usually give them to their kids as freebies. I plop the stuff on a note that says "Thank you" so they know they are free to take the trinkets too. I may write it in French or Spanish if I overhear them speaking in either language. Don't be cheap. All of this takes 45 seconds or less, is less than what you blew on the hotel movies and room service, and shows some appreciation.

 | I'm willing to bet the class of people who took the offer could fit in a motor home, nevermind that the loan docs they signed if they did take the offer kind of undo any claim (I have to believe the fine print's a bit more apparant these days).

 | I do not tip maids at hotels unless I have been exceedingly sloppy. Hell, most hotels have an extra fucking hidden, mandatory maid service charge already.

 | I'm inconsistent in my tipping at hotels in the U.S., but when I go on vacation in Mexico, the Caribbean or Central America I tend to tip the maids a few dollars a night because I think it's more customary in those places, especially in tourist-y areas.
