I'm slow. I'll never miss BQing by 38 MINUTES.

That's kind of my point. If an average runner could use his method to become a really good runner, then I'd start listening. But he was a GREAT runner, so almost anything works for him.
One way to get faster - run more miles. If you run 30/week, then bump it to 40. And then 50.
ETA: just to be clear - my point was not that you are slow. I don't know if you really are. My point is that Jeff's results shouldn't be evidence of the effectiveness of his program since he was already an elite runner.

I guess my point was that bashing the Galloway method seems silly to me.
It makes long distance running accessible to a whole bunch of people who might not otherwise run. And yes, I am well aware that there are people who don't think that's a good thing.
I use the Galloway method. I'm faster that way than when I just run. And I'm significantly faster now then when I started running 4 years ago.
I don't know. I guess I'm sensitive to the idea that because I use Galloway's method, I'm not a "real runner". Whatever. It's stupid. Carry on.

I never said you or others who use his method are not "real runners" and I don't believe that. What I believe is that there are much better ways to get faster. And I do think it's a fine method for getting a "whole bunch of people who might not otherwise run" to run, but it should really only be used by people who have little running experience. IMHO.

His method is to run hard for a bit then walk for a bit? Turn the waking into a slow jog and that's fartlek isn't it? And that is a way to get faster.

Incorporating fartleks into your running program is indeed something that probably will help you get faster.

I think I'm going to become the fastest runner on the board. What time do I have to claim to beat you?

Isn't this what I was taught in the Scouts thirty years ago as to be able to do 5mph over hours? Jog a 100 steps, walk a 100 steps, rinse, repeat?
