I'm not confident that Penske is in a good position to judge.

You can't be insufferable if you don't take yourself seriously.

Butt out. Can't you see that I'm white knighting Atticus?
To paraphrase Lt. Weinberg:
They beat up on a weakling, and that's all they did. The rest is just smokefilled coffee-house crap. They tortured and tormented a weaker kid. They didn't like him. So, they mocked his taste in scotch. And why? Because he bragged about fucking his wife.

This line always seemed out of place to me when the stuff you are referring to is marine discipline and code and whatever.

So if I'm not taking myself seriously it's just one great big whifferooney by you and I'm not insufferable? You aren't going to let me off that easily, are you?
Damned blended scotch drinkers - THINK, boy. Think about the next move on the chessboard.

Please scroll down. You are merely a pawn in this game. Whether you are serious or not is of no moment. It is conscience that makes Atticus a coward. You are blind to the glory of the Grinch!

I like Atticus. He's an upstanding fellow and a fine public servant. And I feel for him. Really I do.
I mean, imagine him all alone in a tub on top of a hill looking out across the vista, drinking commodity scotch and praising (silently, because you don't want to talk about it) his fine taste in commodity scotch, knowing that the pill he took won't be wearing off for a while, while his wife is inside cleaning children's puke and getting more and more pissed that he's out there drinking scotch while she's cleaning all that damned puke, leaving her tub empty, forelorn.

I believe the proper conjugation of the verb would be "I have proven you wrong."

It was cruel, and ultimately harmful to the board.
Atticus probably spent three to four hours researching which scotch he should claim he drinks. Got flamed on some single malt chat boards. Made the partners and even the up and coming associates shake their heads at his lack of practical experience. Finally went into the liquor store, told the clerk he was "just looking" and waited until someone he felt looked stylish bought a single malt; then he ran to the parking lot and posted his post-
and for all that work these heartless socks can only mock his "choice?" Query: what motivates Atticus to do the research necessary to compose his next great post?

I see your point, and I am sorry. I was more thinking about the blown* night with his wife. They plan for those for so long, and to have the big night not only fall through, but then get ridiculed! Now I feel really badly.
Oh, well, Atticus, I'm sure there's a 95% change it will work out next month. Until then, old pal, we've got your back.
* Not that way! (Unfortuantely)

I probably shouldn't be in the pool on this one, but I think it rhymes with "shminsecurity."
