Yesterday the Twin Cities was hotter than any other city in the country. Hotter than Texas, hotter than Arizona. People were baking cookies in their cars (don't ask me why -- I guess because they could).

And in true Minnesota weather fashion, the high tomorrow is forecasted to be in the 60s.
 | Do their cars have faux leather seats? Because, you know, sometimes after a good workout...

I did actually walk around outside a bit on my way home yesterday, and it wasn't actually as bad as I expected. In a rarity for around here, it was a dry(ish) heat.

The "feels like" temp was actually lower the actual temp when I checked, which is kind of unheard of for summer. |

 | We were at 105 a few days ago. This summer is going to suck.

				FB Killed the FB Star

Jesus, people. I know facebook has basically killed this place. And I know we've talked about everything from anal sex to skull-fucking. But the weather? We can do better than that. Okay, maybe I can't, because all I got is almost-nudie pictures and tv.
Speaking of tv, anyone watch Sherlock on the BBC?* Only 3 two-hour episodes, but it's pretty damn good (well, episodes 1 and 3 are, at least). It manages to be a modern version of Conan Doyle's stories while remaining very true to the characters and stories. Very entertaining and I highly recommend it.

Plus it has Tim from the UK Office playing Watson.

I don't get people who work selling their time and who have a family doing shit like waiting for a movie to come up at the library- I barely get going to the library; other than the ability to browse a wall of novels looking for inspiration I see no value that equals the cost of my time to go, but when you can download a movie or TV show why 1) wait for your turn to come up and then 2) spend an hour driving to and from the library?

is it a pride thing, like "I got this the frugal way!" ?

 | I'm on the Board of my local Friends of the library and spend a bunch of time volunteering at the library so I'm there all the time. Plus it's on my way home from work so there's no hour driving to and from. |

Still, the "asshole I am (hi cletus) I voted that if we needed to budget cut we should close the library before the rec center because I don't see why people go to libraries anymore, especially to check out DVDs.

now I now understand why you go, but why do other people not just download films?
