A former coworker of mine (who I like and occasionally socialize with) has one on his shoulder. I made fun of him when he got it and still make fun of him for it. He has never beaten me in the marathon or half IM, but he can lord the IM over me because I have no desire to do one.

I remember talking with Dave about some of his ideas for the book, and saying it all sounded kind of silly. Then he started laughing uncontrollably and choking on his blunt. He was more prone to talking about the quantity of weed he'd finished than the quantity of writing. Always kind of ashamed he hadn't written more.

No, just having trouble grasping the idea that saying "I read x book" means "I think I can write" rather than "I like to show off about what I read."

Though as a counterpoint to my own point, I do recall a great long-ago post from Thurgreed which established that he is an artist of the blow-job, even though I don't think he's ever given one.
