As for dress at the poker table, if the event is at an actual poker room, skip the hooded sweatshirt. Some card rooms don't like the hoodie and sunglasses look as their security cameras become near useless if the player comes in with the hood up. Phil Laak gets a break at the tables because (a) he's a pro, so everyone knows him already, (b) the hoodie is more of a gimmick now, (c) even when he does don the hood, it's usually after he's gone all-in, and (d) he used his Irish charm to pull Jennifer Tilly.

P.S. Don't emulate Phil Helmuth or Scotty Nguyen in dress or in manner at the poker table. Phil's a notorious cad at the tables, though his book Play Poker Like The Pros would be worth a read before the tourney. Scotty Nguyen got drunk at an event last year and behaved like a boor in a televised match.

P.P.S. If you don't already own a cowboy hat, don't even think of wearing one at a poker table. | Kind of crappy, in my limited experience with that hotel. Also, they have possibly the worst food options of any hotel you'd consider staying in. Some decent higher-end restaurants, but if you want something quick and decent you're out of luck -- Panda Express and McDs is the level of your options.

OTOH, the casino is great. Not too huge, and the slot machines are well-separated from the tables, and not kept on a very high volume, so you can play table games without feeling like you are sitting in a pinball-machine.

You gotta figure that the other hotels would be even cheaper. Nothing's as cheap as free though, so go find yourself several casino hosts this trip, be nice, give the casino some action and then get all your future trips for "free", which probably won't be free, but at least you can say your room and meals were free.

 | We've been staying at Planet Hollywood lately (used to be the Aladdin). It took them a couple of years to get the renovations done, but I've been happy with the rooms, restaurants, etc. Also, in case it matters (it does to me), it is a Starwood property. We'll be there this weekend... Go Cards!

The Mirage just renovated their entire hotel, and they're offering $45/night weeknights and $75/night weekends through June if you're a member of the MGM/Mirage Players Club. Just sign up.
Otherwise, I and some other people I know like TheHotel or the Mandalay itself. Of course, it's better to go to the Mandalay when the pool area is open . . . .

ETA: And yeah, some friends just stayed at the Wynn for under $200/night.

Its how the corner office rolls.

2. I don't know those people so much, but I googled them in image mode. What's the look....Vegas casual with either a hat or mirrored glasses?

I don't need to emulate any notorious cads....I'm caddish enough.

I don't own a cowboy hat.......I would like a top hat per TMs post.
Thoughts?

eta: does anyone know if Jennifer Tilly is available this weekend? She would be a nice accessory......in a not intended to be an objectified sort of way......
