At least Marilyn didn't have any silly outdated "the man has to make more than I do" hang-ups.

You know, that's what I thought the first time I read that too. But it was not enough to generate wood.
Did she have implants?

You think she made more money than DiMaggio or Miller? That was back in the day of the studios having the actors on contract.

Isn't it true that if the wacking is done properly, you only need one head, one hand and a limited amount of concentration, so you should have been able to do both?
Or so I've heard, NTTAWWT.

Apparently wood is the problem. The age differentials in wood.
There's gotta be a better joke in there.

If you can concentrate on reading while whacking, you aren't doing it right.

And the laughs just keep on comin'!!

I don't get it. Which is not unusual.

Pre-Curt Flood, baseball players didn't make a whole lot, either. And he had retired by the time they got married (though I think that Joe eventually made $100,000 per). Though his Bowery Savings and other endorsement deals made him comfortable, I don't think that he was rich in the 1950s.
And call me nutty, but I'm guessing that Arthur Miller didn't bring home a lot of coin for "The Crucible," prize-winning play or not.
